Please give your views on a bmw 5 series focusing on 530i or 530d.Also what is better diesel or petrol?

Diesel is better in terms of torque but poor fuel quality creates a lot of issue, petrol has this edge over diesel that is why diesel cars are poor at even resale and higher at maintenance
Whichever you opt do get it properly scanned/checked by an experienced workshop otherwise a roughly used BMW having issues will be a never ending nightmare

Diesel quality is getting better EURO 4
Advantages of 530d would be better fuel efficiency & better power to weight ratio
While in patrol I would prefer a 535i e60 which has an award wining N54 turbocharged engine

I do love all Mercedes model but I also love old BMW models like e46 3 series e90 3 series e60 5 series e30 3 series e35 e34
& the F30 later on they became more obsessed with big kidney grills

I assume you are referring to the 2003-2008 generation E60 5 Series.
Don't buy the diesel version. Practically all of them have the swirl flap and injector issue in Pakistan. 530Ds/520Ds suffer from turbo failure in Pakistan and its extremely expensive to get a new one; most people just buy used and then such cars flood the market. Anyone advising you to buy the diesel version over the petrol obviously has no experience with either. If you do "have" to buy the diesel version (be it 520D or 530D), get the LCI models which were made after the 2006 model year which had the swirl flap issue addressed.

Most importantly, buy one with Dewan service history.

Hello everyone, I have been trying to find a thread related to my particular question but all efforts in vein. Anyhooo, I baught a V8 2008 model with 2 UZ fe engine. This has been my dream car for a while and Alhamdulilahh Allah gave it to me. I want to take care of it more then anything. I love it!

I am a car guy and always incline towards quality over price, the reason I am making this thread is to check up on few things from the owners of this model.

(1) What is the oil capacity of this Engine. The internet says 6.5 litre+0.4 litre with the filter. The local oil change people say full 8 litre. Friends that have owned these said full 8 litres too. Not sure lol.

(2) which oil to be used, it’s done about 150k KM, the engine runs and sounds really good.

(3) what maintenance should I get it looked at for, I mean I baught it used, not sure what the previous owners were like but I want everything to be top notch, I hear these engines are bulletproof if well taken care of.

(4) should I be mixing it with high octane or no, I am doing half high octane and half normal, any suggestions? I want reliability over the crave of power.

(5) should I get the transmission fluids looked at?

(6) any other suggestions to ensure smooth quite comfortable ride?

Maintenance costs won't be high provided the vehicle was maintained prior to your purchase. For the best experience, buy a LCI (made during and after 2006) model which had the newer, digital gear-shifter; these models are more reliable and had all the faults of the previous models rectified.
If I recall correctly, oil and oil filter changes amounted to somewhat under Rs. 20,000. They're due every 5000ish KMs but it won't hurt if you go past the interval by a few hundred kilometres. Transmission fluid used to cost around Rs. 40,000 but it was due almost every 80,000KMs so not a lot. I'd recommend calling up Dewan Islamabad and have them send you a quotation for general maintenance items (its common practice at Shahnawaz too). Can't recall much further but if you find a well-kept example, you won't be spending too much. The petrol models are already reliable and don't have many issues apart from common (and fairly inexpensive) electrical faults.
The parts that were expensive were the ones not usually available in Dewan's inventory. This includes seat occupancy sensors, window regulators, alternators etc. For these parts, I'd recommend getting a quotation from Dewan and maybe purchasing the parts from some other shop (say Smart Services in I-10 or any other shop for that matter).
Again, don't buy one without service history. Most people tend to neglect their cars and then sell them only when the cars develop a major issue.

I'd recommend taking your car to Toyota Center and they'll confirm the oil capacity for you (they have a centralized system where they input your car's chassis number and it tells them various details including the oil capacity). They'll even recommend you the oil to be used since hotter climates tend to require different oils.

I remember Toyota did have a 150k KMs inspection check list for the car. Try finding the owners manual online and then check what the manufacturer recommends. As a general rule, I replace all the fluids of any used car I purchase if there are no dealership receipts present which say it was changed recently. When you take it to Toyota Center, have them check all the filters (cabin filter, air filter, charcoal filter if your particular model has it, oil filter etc). Make sure it has the right type and amount of coolant. Have the spark-plugs looked at and see if they can be cleaned or need replacing.
For the transmission fluid or ATF, check it using its own dipstick. I'd personally replace it if there is no evidence of it being replaced earlier.

You can either mix (hi-octane + regular) or just use regular completely. Won't make much of a difference to long-term reliability. If you're really worried then use hi-octane all the time; it does run smoother and makes a noticeable difference to throttle response.

N52 is a much better option provided he can import parts for it as spare parts sellers in Pakistan for bmw are beyond retarded people (glue eating retarded)

Do remember this, you will have to import every spare for a BMW, most of the things are unavailable new, and used parts don't work in any modern car as most parts are sensor based. There is a reason that bmws are so cheap and Mercedes isn't, just understand that before making a purchase
