Assalam walaikum to all, what type of oil would be best suited for Corolla GLI 1.3 (2016 manual), currently using Shell Helix HX7 5W-30 that I get changed every 5000-5500KMs. Car total mileage is 58000Kms. Any advice please. Thank you
U are doing both things right. Keep using it.
If you are not satisfied with shell oil you can use Toyota Taglon X 5w 30 which has good performance.
Isn't it fully synthetic though? I heard semi synthetic and fully synthetic have mileage difference of 1500-2000KMs.
Thank you for the reply. I wanted to further ask at what mileage do I worry about spark plugs brake oil brake pads etc? I used to get my car fully serviced from Toyota till 20K then stopped cause it is expensive. And the 5W-30 is good enough for this hot climate or switch to some other brand of oil?
Inspect your spark plugs and brake pads every 15-20k kms or at every tuning. The genuine spark plugs last about 80k kms and brake pads last 50-60k kms.5w30 is the best choice for your car. Do check if the oil is synthetic. Brand is your choice. I use zic as it is fully synthetic and widely available in my city. Do change at 5-6k if you dont use a genuine oil filter.
For engine oil use 5w30.Have u ever changed atf if not then it's a good idea to change it also at this mileage to ensure smooth working of transmission.
Shell HX7 is a great semi-synthetic oil. If you are satisfied, keeping using it and your oil change interval is also correct.

On the box it says synthetic. Is this okay? And regarding the spark plugs I'll get a local dealership/Toyota central to check them out after 65k mileage.
Yes perfect. Do get them checked and cleaned. Replacing them isn't necessary so early.
