I really want to know the best possible credit card in Pakistan. I know of a few like Faysal Banks Platinum and SCB Platinum which provide a LOT of benefits from discounts at restaurants to grocery and gas but I do not know what other banks offer. I am looking at higher value cards which have a decent spending limit in the same range as a SCB or Faysal platinum. My primary use is for everyday such as petrol, grocery, dining, travel etc.

I pay in full each month so no worries about interest and if there are any charge cards good enough please introduce them

Please explain the specifics, pros and cons when you pick one, such as discounts, promotions, benefits and spending limits.

I hope some people can help with this.

Thank you!

You can always keep a debit buffer set aside (takes a bit of effort and time to set up if you're salaried) and avoid the cc altogether.. cc's rely on things going wrong for you so they can collect their interest, they'll always offer twice the amount of your salary i.e: 500k limit on a 250k salaries individual.. riskier the better.. i have a 300k buffer and i can drop 50-100k on something/opportunity at any given time, therefore eliminating the need for cc.. but then again i am a bit stupid with my money (but not completely)

While I agree that CC are designed that way if used responsibly they can help you out. For eg you can save a few thousand rupees every month when shopping for groceries gas etc.

Those can go ahead to something I might want or need. Since these things are fixed expenses and I HAVE to pay them each month why not capitalize on them.

They are used much more widely and help a lot in Europe and North America so why not here.

5% Cashback is pretty decent when doing grocery for a big family like mine and I am just referring to supermarket stuff here like imtiaz or naheed etc

Also I don't mind getting 20% off at a decent restaurant like Arizona Grill with my family.

Using both faysal bank and scb. Scb never failed me, connects seamlessly at POS and the transaction is done in a jiffy. Faysal takes some time to make the connection but offers great discounts at a variety of outlets.
I'd say go for the chip based faysal master card.

The Faysal is being used by a few people in my family and yes it has had a few glitches but not many in the last year or so, I have a great relationship with SCB but have not clear on their perks. Can you elaborate on them if you remember?

Well scb doesnt have many discounts to offer if compared to faysal. Both banks' websites have a detail list of outlets which offer perks to the members.

I've will vouch for SCB since it works with almost every online website.

I believe SCB's CC can be problematic to get. Some how they are very selective as per my experience. They have refused to offer CC to 4-5 year old loyal customers. May be because of salary accounts but I have seen some other cases as well. I am using faysal bank's cc since almost 3 years and has worked fine for me every time.

Well the faysal bank card has a 500rs fee if one spends above 300,000 annually which I think I will hit in any case. So thats not much for the program that they have.

Anyone has any experience with HBL cards? I heard they are pretty good as well.

I think the best 3 platinum cards are UBL, Faysal Bank and SCB (In that order). I am using all 3 and this ranking is based on special offers (sharp discount on good restaurants / outlets and other complimentary stuff like using of good gyms/healtclubs/golf courses. I operate in a similar manner as you ... at any time i use the card best suited for the place i am at and get the highest discount possible and at month end, i clear them all! :stuck_out_tongue:

Lol. Thats the way to go my friend! Get the most out of your money

from my UBL I get road miles too its like free fuel loads I hav'nt calculated much but after a month or so I do get 7 - 8 liters fuel on it. most of time used locally, free entry at port grand and restaurants discounts UBL Credit Card worked well for me.

I was founder member of UBL cc. Worked always fine, got free Petrol many times on Roadmiles card. Returned it last month after 11 years as I am now using SCB for fuel and online shopping for past two years. Have also got a Alfalah Titanium, but never used it. It is a sort of a backup. Good experience with both UBL and SCB.

A bogus card issued to me by UBL, and UBL is failed to replace it even after four years. Customer service of UBL is typically third class mostly. In fact in Pakistan, concept of after sale service and customer satisfaction is total fraud, or at least really bad .... Anyways, still hope for the best in Pakistan for future... Pakistan Zindabad

i,m using alfalah from many years and pretty much satisfied

I have standard chartereds Titanium. Its a great CC if you can cancel off the annual fee. My UBL mastercard also comes in handy with some discounts. Lastly i have a silkbank cc just for restaurants etc.

Hbl is offering alot of discounts these days as well so it can be a good choice too

i have used UBL, MCB, FAYSAL and ALFALAH Cards. And currently using UBL, MCB and Faysal and i must say that UBL is best one because it has cash back option and Faysal bank Card is good but very pathetic in cash of reward point redemption as no cash back option is available against points and also no shopping catalogue is available to use points as most of the POS alaways try to refuse when someone wants to use his card points. So Prefer UBL which gives cash back option no tension where to use points.
