Bedford Trucks?

I saw many a bedford trucks decorated in pictures of pakistan.will someone share more info on them?How old are they?Are they running on Petrol?Which other Old Trucks are there?british leyland?fargo?

just asked as I am interested about old trucks and buses

well they are old but they spend about 1 - 2 Laks on its decoration.. basically they are trailer type trucks .. and their back is build by people and usually you see alot of reflecting stickers which are their decoration

and 1 more thing.. they are really tough and sometimes they get heat up but they travel karachi to Pershwar anytime with just 5 hours stop somewhere near Multan or before! ... as far as hilly ares are concerned.. they do get overheat but still its just and 4 - 5 hours stay and they get cooled by water.. and there you GO

thanks XaxoOBoY.Is it running on Petrol or diesel? well ,I have seen such bedord trucks around a decade back and so are those front housing buses.but ,indian law asks for scrapping of taxi vehicles to be scrapped after some years of usage. The decoration of pakistani trucks are sure looks like a artform! it is shocking to see that umbrella like thing above trucks. Well ,decoration of trucks are common in India.we can identify the truck by its looks from which state it is coming from.

Those bedfords ,chevrolet lorries and buses were common in India until end of 1960s.british Leyland and benz(TATA) replaced them all.also ,petrol powered trucks are labelled not safe during those times due to ford trucks caught fire.these are infos I gathered from a old baba near our place.

well here these Bedford trucks are running along with new hino,isuzu etc trucks from a long time and these are diesel trucks i live in Peshawar there is a place called BARA and most of the buses come form that place are old Bedford buses and these buses are checked by VETS for reducing carbon emissions

well i saw some Chevrolet,Dodge Trucks doing servis but bedford all the way we even have ford transit vans here used for transport in some places very tough cars man i bet u hit them with a brand new merc transit van will easily survive and merc including the guy will be :S

there were coal powered chevrolet buses long back during 1920s or 30s in british india.

yar see these coaches i did this job in windows Paint;) without using any sort of snap or something;)as i have passion from my child hood of drawing coaches,and ISUZU,HINO,NISSAN DIESAL,DAEWOO trucks and bus;)hmm see this if you people like it please comment on my painting;)

the 1st one is Hino Pak 1992-93 came in Yellow cab sceme;) but it was limited in Blue colour mostly came in Red Pink orange, than in lte 97's the owners change there colours on it with Yellow and Red;) but boy the coach was really superb;)hmmm still remember going through from Kotari dar-e-sindh in this coach remind's my childhood

the below one is basically The Nissan Diesal Chasis,but the body shape which usually our local Karigay Gives so this is that,they removes emerjency doors from it;)

I do not agree with the comments of the aashiq that the HINO Bussses are first introduced in 1992 by Nawaz Sharif scheme. The hino busses and trucks are start assembling in pakistan since 1986. And hino busses and trucks are also imported from Japan also before 1986.

the main thing is that they are fuel efficient and are easy to be repaired even on the road the driver can repair them on their own i even saw the tyre joint repaired by the driver himself.

they r diesel powered and can carry heavy loads easily n are decorated with love as they are in pakistan
the litterally spent 4 to 8 lacs for the (Chamak Pattis )
a guy in UK have imported some of these trucks and rickshaws as well from Pakistan....

they are the true icon of pakistan

there is a water service in karachi by the name of Ghulam Nabi water tanker he owns almost 100 150 of these kinds and every one of them are worth watching
