Antonov 124 at Karachi Airport

Spotted this at Karachi Airport...The Russian manufactured Antonov-224 is the second largest cargo plane in the world, and the biggest airplane ever handled at this airstrip.

It is topped only by its bigger brother, another Antonov, that landed on Islamabad Airport only once during relief operations for 2005 earthquake.

Its a beauty...love its drooped wings design.

This would be Antonov 124 not 224, Antovov 225 is the largest with six engines

@2468: you might be right about the model#.

I have seen this plane with its tail-end open to reveal its interior cabin...its a huge space, almost as tall as a 3-4 stories building. The plane is enormous!

the last picture of the 20 engines plane is photoshopped ofcourse.....

The Antonov 225 was built during the soviet era and as it was about to enter full-on production the soviet union collapsed....therefore only a handful exist now...it was said to be so big that it could carry the fuselage of the 747...or so i've heard!!!

by the way...there are no pictures of the antonov at khi airport...all the pictures are of it on some foreign runways!!!

Yup i saw this vary AN 224 last month in Khi.
and around 2 weeks back i saw another An 224 making an approach over Islamabad as well.
