Priced between Rs 4.19 lakh and Rs 5.69 lakh, the all-new Wagon R is available with two engine options and seven variants.
Maruti-Suzuki has announced pricing for the all new Wagon R in India starting at Rs 4.19 lakh for the base 1.0-litre LXi variant and going up to Rs 5.69 lakh for the AMT-equipped 1.2-litre ZXi model. The new Wagon R sticks to its tall-boy roots although it is quite different from the outgoing model – there’s a new platform, a new design, more room on the inside and the option of a more powerful engine.
One of the main highlights on the new Wagon R is the addition of a more powerful, 83hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine. It is available in four trims – 1.2 VXi (Rs 4.89 lakh), 1.2 VXi AMT (Rs 5.36 lakh), ZXi (Rs 5.22 lakh) and ZXi AMT (Rs 5.69 lakh). The 68hp, 1.0-litre petrol engine continues unchanged and is available in LXi (Rs 4.19 lakh), VXi (Rs 4.69 lakh) and VXi AMT (Rs 5.16 lakh) options. It is interesting to note that the 5-speed AMT is offered with both engines.
As we had reported previously, the new Wagon R shares its Heartect platform with a number of Maruti Suzuki models like the Ertiga, Ignis, Baleno and Swift, which makes it lighter than the outgoing model and capable of meeting upcoming crash test norms. The new platform also sees the Wagon R become larger than its predecessor – the wheelbase is now 35mm longer and the width has increased by a significant 125mm. This translates to a far more spacious cabin than the older Wagon R, which was a decently roomy model in any case, thanks to the tall-boy design.
