Hello Pakwheelers! I have been driving a Kia Picanto (manual) for almost a year now. When the car was new, I noticed that the headlights were quite dim and not illuminating the road very well. Especially on highways, it was very difficult to see in the distance at night.
My picanto came with Osram H4 bulbs as standard. I went to the market to look for better bulbs. Mostly LED bulbs were available in the market so I bought a pair of Chinese LED bulbs for Rs 5000. These were quite big bulbs because they come with a heatsink to prevent overheating. Because of this, the dust caps which cover the bulbs were not fitting. The electrician said its ok to keep them off, nothing will happen. But dust and water can enter the headlights.
Anyhow, with the LED lights the visibility was better but the light alignment was out. They did not illuminate the road evenly and there were dark patches on the road. I was not satisfied so I decided to switch back to halogen bulbs. I ordered a pair of Philips Racing Vision GT200 bulbs from Daraz. These cost around Rs 8000 which is quite expensive. An average haloged bulb pair is like Rs 2000 max.
The Philips bulbs have dramatically improved the visibility. Their light spread is so much better. They illuminate the road well but do not blind oncoming traffic. I would highly recommend these. In addition, I also got some fog lights with LED DRLs installed. Now in the day time I have DRLs and the at night the headlight + fog light combination has vastly improved visibility.
