Hey guys, my wife and I are starting to plan our trip to Egypt early next year. We've heard some mixed things about food safety though - a few friends mentioned getting sick after eating street foods or smaller restaurants. As someone new to traveling there, what types of local dishes are generally safe to try? I'd love to experience authentic cuisine but don't want to spend the whole trip ill. What are some popular/must try Egyptian foods? Any recommendations for reputable places to eat in Cairo, Luxor, Aswan? Hoping to get the real flavor of the culture without risking our health. Any advice you can share would be much appreciated! We want to fully take in all Egypt has to offer on our first visit.

similar to pakistani food
Yes, shawarmas I've heard that shawarmas are popular in Egypt, do they serve on the street or is there a specific restaurant? I'm afraid about the stories of people getting sick after.
its like street food but quality used to be quite good in Cairo back in days. Dont know about other cities, but as long as you get out of limits of Cairo, the surrounding were exactly like rural Pakistan.
I made a research about food to eat I stumbled from this blog, https://gowithguide.com/blog/egypt-tourism-statistics-2023-all-you-need-to-know-5312 it says here Kushari/Koshary, Kofta & Kebabs, Ta'ameya are these also similar to Pakistani food?
