I grew up with a 1986 jimny (potohar shape) in my family. We never thought of selling it as it was a "Do-it-all". It has the stock F10A engine, but I'm looking to swap it with a newer engine instead of fixing it. It has been rebuilt and worked on multiple times in the past 3 decades and the money this engine has burned is more than it's price. It overheats, eats oil and gives mileage of around 7 km/L in city. I don't do inter-city travel on this vehicle.
My main objective is to drive on damaged roads in city and rural areas, have my car be able to exit the road in the event of a traffic congestion, and be able to navigate uneven terrain without becoming caught in a shallow ditch. And not be a gas guzzler. I don't do rally racing and have no plans.
I could get a G13B or K6 engine, from Katcha stop or Sultan k khu but the issue with those is that they would be quite old and undoubtedly not in optimal shape.
I want to put any newer engine without any over-complicated modifications. Can I do it with K10 or M13 suzuki engines. I know It won't be a bolt on fix and I'll have to keep my gearbox. Should I upgrade to 5 speed Jimny gearbox that comes with the g13 engine?
