IMP Update: (Warranty Claim | Flywheel | Generator | Mileage)
Assalam u Alaikum, Pakwheelers and Alsvin enthusiasts - I am sorry to keep you waiting on the updates, sadly I have been through a turmoil of an year with a few deaths in the family (May Allah grant them Maghfirat) along with balancing between personal and working time. I'll get right to it.
Knocking Issues - Flywheel - Warranty Claim:
The knocking issues that I faced (and so did many of you) turned out that there is a play in the Flywheel of the car which is due to the part's condition as manufactured, I have learned from reliable and high-ups on Changan that this is a claimable warranty part and will be replaced with zero to minimum hassle. Luckily and Alhamdulillah, my car's flywheel was replaced in warranty in one day after a wait of 10 days due to part being shipped to Lahore and whatnot. Full marks to the people at the dealership who took care of it remarkably well. Performance of the engine has been great and mileage is awesome (more on that below).
Generator Concerns:
I was concerned about my car's battery health depreciating since its a fairly new car and hosted the Changan battery, not the daewoo one. And the replacement is expensive for both. So I raised this concern with the dealership while getting the checkup for the flywheel and they did a complete inspection on the generator, turns out it was dropping voltage/current while operating. The difference was insignificant to the normal user, but I am not a normal user. Tip to check: while driving or idling, notice the headlights dimming and the interior light dimming (At Night Time please) if it does while the car is idling with AC and Headlights on, then your car's generator is not functioning up to the mark. I noticed and reported and when we did this check at the dealership, the team there verified. They also performed a computer check on the generator as well which gave a report of 5-10% loss of current/voltage on the generator which directly affects the battery health and charge hold capabilities. I suggest you all who have Alsvin perform this check and make sure its not the generator's fault. Good news is that I also had my generator replaced in warranty, much thanks to Changan, along with the flywheel.
Mileage Monster:
Recently a friend of mine who drive a Grande challanged me that Alsvin's mileage is inferior to Corolla's. I wouldn't have it any other way than to prove a Corolla owner wrong at that. Make no mistake I personally think that Toyota is a remarkably dependable car, but Alsvin ko keh kar jai ga kahan. So I loaded 4 people (him and me included) in the car, AC on reset the mileage meter at the M2 entrance from Thokar Lahore and went to Sialkot Cantt for Aftari. At exit 5 of LHR SKT Motorway, the mileage was 5L/100KM (Woohoo) the average speed was 120 km/h and the AC never turned off with four adults in the car. He thought theres no way in the world that Alsvin will do 20km/l in these conditions, and after this he is now a fan of Alsvin and looking to buy his 3rd car which is going to be mine most probably. I will share my mantanance tips with you in the future posts and how with some care and love you can get the best out of your car.
