MG 5 Price in Pakistan, Pictures & Reviews

The premium sedan, internationally known as MG 5, is coming to Pakistan under the name of MG GT. MG Pakistan has imported a CBU test unit of the latest second-generation MG GT and showcased it in an exclusive event. The company says MG GT is one of the “Future Models” of MG Pakistan. 

Internationally, MG 5 has several variants. There’s even an MG 5 EV. In Pakistan, however, we are expecting to see an MG GT with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine. 

MG Pakistan has started a campaign named “Build Your Own MG”. They are doing a survey and asking Pakistanis to choose the specs and features they want to see in the upcoming MG GT. Consumers can choose options for engine size, transmission, wheel size, and other specs. They can even suggest a price for the car. The company has promised to introduce the MG GT as per the consumers’ choice. 

There’s no confirmed news about the official launch of MG GT in Pakistan. Internationally, the right-hand drive model of MG 5 will be introduced within the next three to four months. It will take at least a year for the car to arrive in the Pakistani market.

Exterior

From the looks of it, MG GT is a premium sedan. The front fascia looks exciting with a chrome-plated grille dipping towards the ground, and sleek diamond-cut LED headlights. The daytime running lights (DRLs) add a modern aesthetic touch to the front of the car. The roofline slopes all the way to the rear edge and meets the LED taillights. 

The exterior has other notable features like Bi-function projection headlights, front and rear aero wipers, follow-me-home headlights, rear fog lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, to name a few. Other features include automatic dusk-sensing headlights, power adjusted and power folding side mirrors as well as demisting rear window. 

Interior

The interior of MG GT is wrapped in high-quality fabric with leather upholstery and has standard features of any sedan in its league. The most noticeable feature right off the bat is the red trims on the doors, headrests, and center console storage box. The dashboard looks sporty with a jewel pattern and a chrome accent. The electric sunroof is like icing on the cake; it takes the premium feel to a whole other level. The four-seater sedan has the option of manually adjusting the driver and passenger seats in 4 directions. 

The 8-inch color display touchscreen comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. It also supports Bluetooth connectivity which, paired with 4 speakers, provides good quality audio/video entertainment. One USB outlet in the front fascia is also available. The steering column is tilt adjustable and the feature of mechanical air conditioning is also available. 

The MG GT comes with the feature of keyless entry and immobilizer. It is also packed with safety and driver-assist features such as a tire pressure monitoring system, rear parking sensors, auto hold, 2 airbags, cruise control, and much more. The car also comes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), and Brake Assist (BA) for better driving. 

There is also an option between black and beige interior in MG GT.

Engine

MG GT comes with a 1.5L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder 16-valve engine that produces 118 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque and is mated with automatic CVT transmission.

Mileage

With its 1.5L naturally aspirated engine, the car can go for 14 to 15 kilometers per liter in the city.

Ride & handling

MG GT is easy to handle and is very responsive. Its traction control takes a very short time to set and the car has reasonable suspension control. It is suitable for driving around town as well as on the highway. The steering responds quickly which makes it easy to handle the car at high speeds. 

Maintenance

The car will be brought as CBU in Pakistan but its auto parts will still be easily available. 

Competitors

In the Pakistani market, MG GT will compete against Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, and Hyundai Elantra.

Toyota Corolla is already a popular car in the Pakistani market and is jam-packed with all the latest features. Due to its reliability and similar features, it gives strong competition to MG GT.

Honda Civic is also a well-known and well-liked name in the Pakistani market. Although it might be a bit more expensive than the GT, due to its outstanding performance, value for money, and vast fanbase, it gives strong competition to GT.

Hyundai Elantra, despite its 1999cc engine, falls in the same price category as GT. Due to its affordability and fuel efficiency, it is a major competition for MG GT.
