GMC Hummer EV, also abbreviated as Hev, is included in the line of battery-electric heavy-duty vehicles manufactured by GM since 2021. It was offered in two variants: a pickup truck and a sport utility vehicle (SUV). Both were unveiled in October 2020 and April 2021, respectively. 

The Hummer EV, currently sold in the United States, weighs around 10,000 pounds ( 4500 kg). However, its heavy weight, size, and fast speed have raised concerns that it can pose risks to other road users. 

It is offered in three trims: Edition 1, EV3X, EV2X, EV2. 

Edition 1: The production of Edition 1 was started in 2022 as a limited edition. This edition was also available for pre-order by the end of the launch event on October 20, 2020. All Edition 1 units are available in white with black roof and feature-bronze colored wheels. The interior comprises two-tone colors, i.e., black and grey, with bronze accents. It has three electric motors with 1000 hp horsepower and offers 329 miles of range. It also consists of Extreme Off-Road Package including mud-terrain tyres, skid plates, and rock sliders. It can travel diagonally using four-wheel steering, and this feature is standard in Edition 1. It also comprises an “Extract Mode” that offers additional features like a digital key, removable roof panels, and GMC's MultiPro Tailgate.

EV3X: EV3X was introduced in 2023 as model year 2023 in pickup body style. It is offered as a 2024 model year in SUV body style. This pickup version comprises specifications similar to those of Edition 1. In addition, like the pickup version, the SUV version of this EV3x produces 830 hp with an EPA estimated range of 298 miles with the standard 22-inch wheels.

EV2X: It includes all the features of EV2 with standard four-wheel steering. It also has a Crab-Walk feature, adaptive air suspension, and an optional extract mode. It comprises a dual motor system that produces 625 hp and has an estimated range of 300 miles. However, it was expected to be available in Spring 2023.

 EV2: It was set to be the base Hummer EV trim, which included super cruise, HD surround view, digital key, infinity roof, multi-pro tailgate, and rear drop glass. It also comprised the same 625 hp using a dual electric motor and had an estimated range of 250 miles. It was expected to be available in Spring 2024.

The Hummer EV is manufactured at GM's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly plant in Michigan, also known as Factory Zero. Production of the Hummer EV Pickup began on November 17, 2021, and that of the Hummer EV SUV started on January 30, 2023. 

GMC introduced a limited "Omega Edition" trim, with only 550 units of the Pickup version for the 2024 model year.  A total of 1,108 units of the Hummer EV SUV in Omega Edition were produced. A total of 14,039 Hummer EV units were produced in October 2024.

What’s New For 2025?

The GMC Hummer EV received minor upgrades for 2025. The company added two new colors to the lineup: the more attention-grabbing, striking Solar Orange and the modest Graphic Blue Metallic. Despite that, no other changes have been made. 

GMC Hummer Specifications

The Hummer EV pickup offers two powertrain options: a dual-motor setup and a tri-motor version.  Both come with all-wheel drive. The dual-motor configuration produces 570 horsepower, while the tri-motor version generates a reliable 1,000 horsepower and torque of 15591 Nm.

The Hummer EV’s astonishing acceleration is impressive. However, its braking performance fell short. Bringing the massive truck to a stop from 70 mph took a lengthy 211 feet, and repeated braking runs showed noticeable brake fade. Due to the rear-wheel steering system, its low-speed maneuverability is surprisingly good. However, once you're going faster, the Hummer EV becomes as difficult to handle as other large, lifted trucks.

Regarding acceleration, the Hummer EV can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds due to Watts-to-Freedom launch control, and the Hummer EV SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds. 

Hummer EV pickup has a towing capacity of 12000 pounds (5443 kg) with a 570 hp dual motor powertrain. It has surpassed the towing capacities of the Ford F-150 Lightning (10,000 pounds) ( 4536 kg) and the Rivian R1T (11,000 pounds) (4990 kg) (3402 to 3955 kg). The models that consist of three motors have a lower towing capacity ranging from 7,500 to 8,500 pounds. During the towing test, where we hauled a 6,100 pound (2767 kg)  double-axle camping trailer, the Hummer EV's range dropped to just 140 miles (225 km) at 70 mph (112 km/h).

Hummer Interior 

The Hummer EV Pickup is a crew-cab truck with a five-foot bed. However, the interior materials could be more premium for the vehicle's price; the cabin isn’t as spacious as a GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab. It offers a unique feature: optional removable roof panels. These panels, similar to the T-top design found in GM sports and muscle cars from the 1970s and 1980s, allow the cabin to be opened to the elements. 

The interior of the Hummer EV is Lunar Horizon-themed in Jet Black and Light Grey with tech bronze accents. The interior is standard on Edition 1 and available in other trims and an SUV body style. The durable all-weather flooring creates an appealing vision of the inside cabin. 

Moreover, its panels act like a panoramic glass sunroof, but when removed and stored in the front trunk, they give the Hummer a convertible feel, similar to the Jeep Gladiator. Inside, moon-themed details, such as a moon-boot footprint on the dead pedal and speaker grilles representing the Sea of Tranquility, represent GM’s partnership with NASA and its role in the development of the Apollo 15 lunar rover.

The power swing gate of Hummer EV opens and closes using the key fob or rear exterior button. The power rear drop glasses enhance the open-air driving experience by lowering its head. 

Hummer Exterior 

The exterior of the GMC Hummer EV is bold and rough, with the “HUMMER” logo in the center. It has a boxy silhouette with a wide, muscular body. Regarding the lighting, it comprises front off-road auxiliary lights attached to the front pillar that offer illumination. The Tech Bronze or Red recovery hooks help you coordinate the vehicle with other cars, loaders, and pickups. 

Its Alternate Finish Badges complement its rugged appearance. The Rocker protector with assist steps included in its Extreme Off-road Package offers reliable convenience and comfort to the passengers. Overall, it has a functional and futuristic design that makes it appealing to consumers. The extreme off-road package includes Underbody skid plates, rock sliders, UltraVision, and underbody Cameras. 

Hummer Infotainment

The Hummer EV features a large 13.4-inch infotainment display with a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. GMC partnered with Epic Games, the creators of the popular Fortnite video game, to design the graphics for the vehicle’s infotainment interface. 

The high-resolution screen and advanced graphics are visually impressive. However, there’s an evident lag that indicates that the system may lack the processing power required to utilize the software’s capabilities fully. Standard connectivity features include wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and GM's OnStar telematics system.

GMC Hummer EV also comprises a high-quality Bose® 14-speaker audio system with Centerpoint® for an immersive sound experience. Additionally, the Electric Vehicle Sound Enhancement (EVSE) provides a unique sound profile to enhance both the driving experience and pedestrian safety.

Hummer Safety Features

One of the significant features of Hummer EV is  OnStar® Safety and Security. With this, you'll have 24/7 access to emergency-certified advisors who can assist in the event of a crash, vehicle theft, or other emergencies. 

The system includes the Safety & Security Plan, which comes with the OnStar Guardian™ App. This app allows you to access essential OnStar services through your smartphone, even when you're not in your vehicle. You can get assistance with a crash, flat tire, and more, and you can share this service with up to seven loved ones at no extra charge.

Other notable safety features include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, standard lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. The standard ACC with hands-free driving provides convenience and safety to drivers while driving on challenging terrain.

According to updates, GMC Hummer EV price in Pakistan in 2025 is 7.254 crore. The users can explore used car imports to buy this electric pickup. On the contrary, Hummer EV price in the USA starts at $ 96,550 ( 2.6 crore) and reaches up to  $106,945 ( 2.9 crore). These prices include the amount of certain taxes and levies. 

Hummer Mileage 

The Hummer EV Pickup offers two battery options. The standard 20-module battery provides an EPA-estimated range of 311 miles for the EV2X and 314 miles for the EV3X. The EV3X can also be upgraded to a 24-module battery, which GMC claims delivers up to 381 miles of range. However, choosing the Extreme Off-Road package reduces that estimate to 359 miles. 

During the test on the Hummer EV Edition 1, which drove on a 75 mph highway route, the truck covered 290 miles on a full charge. The vehicle achieved a peak charging rate of 287 kW when connected to a DC fast charger but averaged just 98 kW, taking over two hours to charge from 10 to 90 percent. 

GMC claims that the Hummer EV can add 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes of charging. However, in the real-world test, the charging process took about twice as long to achieve that amount of range.

The Hummer EV’s massive weight can impact its work efficiency. The models consisted of three motors with standard 22-inch wheels, providing a mileage of 58 mpg combined ( 24.6 km/l). On the contrary, the most powerful versions of the Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T (both with 22-inch wheels) achieve 66 MPGe ( 28.0 km/l) and 68 MPGe (29.0 km/l), respectively.
