Joyous... Something to look forward to when its completed...

Sir, @syedalinaqi please keep the paint scheme as it was from the Factory.. Also If I can be of any assistance from Karachi do let me know...

Thumbsup for the effort....

I will be using POR15 Rust Preventive paint as the base coat after cleaning the floor pans and will spray Raptor bed liner as the final coating for the pans and under the fender wells, Inside the car and under the rear seat panel. I just asked Safdar to apply used diesel to stop the process of Rust  Raptor will not only protect the pan and car for any future rust but will also act as sound dampener.

As i mentioned in my first brief that this car was a 1961 and has same body type/shape as the Oval beetle apart from some of the changes which were made in 1958 as VW moved away from the rear Oval window Bugs to a larger rear window bugs. Now as in this project i am doing the reverse of what VW did and trying to go for an Oval look so i am reverting all the 58-64 changes made by VW.

As part of the puzzle first thing on the list was the complete front section as Ovals had different front sections as compared to 60-64 bugs as my bug is 61 so i needed that. To me rescue came Nasir bhai as he had an old 1959 Bugs front end which he had used in 2012 when he was restoring his 1957 Ragtop Oval bug. He used side panel of that bug and gifted the Ragtop clip out of that bug to someone else. So that front clip was still there at Late Khalid sb's workshop, Nasir bhai asked me to take that if that is of any use to me and i jumped all over it and grabbed it . As it was lying there in open sky since 2012 but was covered with the front hood/ bonet so survived.

Safdar brought it to his workshop and started working on it, for now thats enough

I must applaud the craftsmanship of your guy safdar...

Please do remember to put the car on jack stands on all four corners...

if you work on the chassis and the wheels are off! Especially if you have to have the roof removed for repairs it is advised to put the car jack stands to prevent any sort of buckling and distortion!

Car will remain on wheels till the end of the body work so i don't think i will need jacks at any moment.

After completing the work on "Spare wheel panel with tray" now safdar started on the front clip as an whole. This whole front clip was far far better than what is right now on the car so we decided to graft in the whole front section to the car. Although this was a HUGE risk as no one in Pakistan has ever attempted anything like this, i have seen ppl replacing the front nose clip but not to the extent we are going

This clip only had rust issue at the side front panels but luckily i had both left and right side panels brand new so the nose issue was an easy fix. Safdar replaced both right and left side panels along with spare wheel well area and joined together everything as if it was a piece of cake for him.
