sorry! missed the point and reposted so many pics. unfortunately I can't seem to recall having taken any pic of the Mustang when I bought it. I 'll try and go through my album, eanwhile the closest is the one posted here which was taken while denting was underway. When I bought the car a lot of body and trim parts were missing. I have got the trim parts all new....suspension, brakes, engine etc. all complete and restored

as I had mentioned earlier, this Alvis was brought to Pakistan by ex CM of NWFP Mir Afzal Khan (Hoti Family) of Mardan. The car was kept in a carpeted garage all its life barring the last 7-8 years when it was bought by a friend who is a regular PW member and a contributor to this thread...you guess who it is. He 's now setttled abroad and sold the car to Omar before he left. Within the first ten pages of this thread, you 'll another pic of this Alvis.

   Ive seen the pics, thanks for posting. The unit looks good. Have noted the construction. 


   Lets see what I can find but it would be a few days when I can finally report back to you. I suspect, though hope not, that you may have to purchase a new matched pair should one be available new or secondhand since there would be a difference in the quality and outlook. Mismatched headlights can ruin the final look of any car especially a restored one.



   Did you not get a bulb holder with this assembly?? I think youll need a special holder for this, one which has provision to hold both the main headlight bulb AND a small bulb for the parking light. See pic number 2 in your posting. Note a small hole for this towards the top. VW Beetle original headlights had similar bulb holders. Wonder if they can fit should a pair is found. Im not a Benz expert but Ive noticed many similarities between Benz and VW, both sharing German blood.



   Is this a Hella unit?? I know that Iran produces copies of lights but those are branded as 'Al-Hella'. Seen those for the 115 series. Are Turkish branded (franchised) or copies?



 Another important thing. I hope you have stored carefully the original headlights off your car along with all parts you are replacing. Please post pics of the old units too whether they were complete or not. There is a possiblity of finding a beat up incomplete set or a few secondhand parts. We should consider piecing  together things like a jigsaw puzzle to come up with a decent set.



The brand new headlight may be a delightful find for you but make a note that Turkish, Iranian and other aftermarket NON German spares are of much inferior quality. While these may last long with proper care you just cannot compare the quality and durability with the German stuff. 



So do consider saving the original units by restoring them and adding broken/missing parts with German stuff.

Hope to come up with some solution soon.

i was not in favor of aftermarket lights for the car but this was the only option... the unit i bought also say Hella made in germany. i hope i find another one as the old unit that the car came with have sealed beams. i still have those with me. i remember that farooq of shamsi told me that the reflector of beetle headlight would do it as it is almost the same. i am getting the holder too to hold both the bulbs.

i have been thinking of checking the headlight of VW beetle if they are the same i might end up getting the reflector . will check that tomorrow.

i will be getting the front grill steel pieces 11 in total from shamsi on saturday inshallah .

As i wrote earlier I do have this daring young men in their jaunty jalopies movie. I watched it in DivX format but i'll convert it into DVD cd format for you. Give me a day or two. The only drawback with this great movie is that after a lot of search i got lucky in geting it but its dubbed in French language. I can understand a few words of French still I enjoyed it a lot .
