The forte and Elantra of that era had engine issues. So I would avoid them. My uncle had to have the one in his sonata replaced, and Hyundai only did it when threatened with legal action. So yes, I would try to avoid those. Elantra, pre 2010 style is also a good one.
The cruze is a piece of garbage. Avoid that completely.
The problem is, Hyundai's and kias, or even the cruze may be cheaper on the market to buy, but they will be a headache down the road.
You might be able to find a mitsubishi galant or lancer for a good deal too.
However, I cannot stress this enough, whichever car you buy, please ensure it is either already certified, or get a pre purchase inspection before you hand over the money. You will have to pay for it, but trust me, it's A LOT better than finding out your car has many hidden issues after you've paid for it. And ensure if you are buying from a dealership, that it isn't a crappy one.
My sister bought a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe from a dealer in Hamilton. On their 5 HR drive home, the engine light came on and the car engine would stall out. After 4 months of fighting back and forth with the used car dealership, they only paid them half of the repair cost.
I think it was a Pakistani owned dealer too. So, be careful, and never be afraid to walk away from a deal if things don't seem right.
Good luck. I'll pray that you find a lovely ride inshallah!
