A strange thing that thin film panels are being sold as superior and expensive here in Pakistan, you people can surf net and can confirm that thin film have worst efficiency of them all and is cheapest and take most space of them all. Only plus point is that because its cheaper so people buy it who have plenty roof space.
Its cheap because silicon is just sprayed onto films(so less manufacturing costs) and another down point that when you install it,silicon settles again dropping efficiency further,no one can tell how much they will drop but roughly up-to 30%!!!
Low conversion efficiency: typically 60-80 Watts/m2 6-8%, with notable exceptions.(cant you see how bad their efficiency is,poly's has near 15%, Mono's near 16-18%,world record of efficiency to date is 20.1% ) - Expected lifespan is less than crystalline panels.
Optimal efficiency in hot weather, less effective in cooler conditions.( plus point)
3-6 month ‘breaking in’ period where long term output is exceeded.
Requires 2-3 times more panels and surface area for same output as crystalline.
So if you buy or import thin films kindly know what you are doing and what you are getting into
