The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has notified an increase of Rs2.31 per unit in the tariff for K-Electric (KE) consumers on account of monthly fuel charges adjustment (FCA) for June 2023.

The tariff revision is slightly lower than the hike of Rs2.34 per unit requested by KE. According to a notification, the tariff increase will be applicable only to the consumer bills of August.

It would be recovered from all KE customers, except for lifeline consumers and electric vehicle charging stations, Nepra said.

IESCO now requires 3 Phase Inverters for net metering.

Makes sense but as per notification even the existing net metering users need to replace their single phase inverters.

can a single phase hybrid inverter ( without net metering) work with three phase system/ meter --- if yes , how , I mean will it work for one phase only or will the inverter give power to all three phase in home.

It will work but provide power to one phase only and you'll need to ensure the zero export device / CT is installed to prevent reverse grid feeding.

In absence of a net meter, it will only generate enough power as per the actual load / it's generation limit if load is greater than PV capacity.

It's sad that 3-Phase inverters are ridiculously expensive these days and NEPRA has switched to requiring 3-Phase inverters for net-metering.

Precisely. Deye has 8kw and 10kw 3 phase hybrid inverters but they weren't imported locally. I guess it will change now.

not nepra, as for now only IESCO has issued circular regarding this
incase of any other disco, you can use single phase

I think many are requiring it now. I remember people saying here that KESC requires it, a friend got solar installed in Fsd and as per FESCO, they require 3-phase inverters as well for net-metering.

Reason given be that there are lots of transformer blow-outs because of 1-Phase net-metering - which I suspect is due to unbalanced loads i.e. lots of energy being sent to transformer over a single phase. So the correct solution should have been to divide 1P net-metering customers to different phases and tell them to keep their inverter bound to specific phase. But as is the case in Pakistan, they just pass a blanket requirement, making life difficult for everyone.

if I am not going for on grid system, than why install zero export device?

Actually, I plan to install a solar system w/o batteries -- I have three phase meter -- my budget allows me single phase inverter only.

What happens if my actual load is greater than PV capacity -- Say my load is 3500 watts and solar is producing 3000 watts only ?

If you plan on connecting your grid to your inverter, a zero export device / CT that comes with the inverter will need to be installed to prevent reverse grid feeding.

In the absence of a battery, the remaining 500 watts will be coming from your grid.

with ongrid inverter, it results in system shutdown, ongrid inverter needs grid to work

They do, normally in the form of a CT that needs to be installed/ configured to prevent export.

I have a solarmax PV 6000+ which has this feature built in but most newer hybrids require a CT.
