When will our people realize that a car has its limitations, if you try to go beyond them, you'll suffer.
P.S. Why are so many 9th Gen Civics getting involved in such accidents? Some people I've come across drive it sensibly but others mistake it for a sports car. I am careful in my Prius which has VSC, sport suspension, 17" rims with 215 size Pirelli tires, hence having far more superior road grip and control than Civic but people speed in the Civics with the stock wheels and useless EuroStar tires.

It has nothing to do with stock wheels and Eurostar tyres, VSC, sport suspension etc.....Diana died in a MB crash.

Its all about wreck less driving.

i said that even with such safety equipment i drive carefully and do not take the car beyond its limits.
Diana crash is another story, don't drag it into this.
Paul Walker died in a Porsche Carrera GT worth $500,000, Rowan Atkinson survived in his McLaren F1 crash, Ayrton Senna died in a Formula1 car, there are different stories.

Well said! In all those cases the occupants could've walked away without a scratch. Ayrton would've been with us had one bit of suspension connecting the wheels hadn't snapped. Its all up to our Lord!

Auto makers spend ***** load of money testing and improving their cars. Check out these pictures of a very high speed collision (car hits a lorry from backside at 90+ mph).

This was a BMW M5 E60, RIP now.
Ofcourse, rich auto makers spend a lot more to keep the passenger cabin safe from impact, that is why the front and back of their cars are designed to absorb as much of impact as possible.

Our average Civics and Corollas are not designed in the same way sadly.

thats a chop.... you can see the straight cut edges. If that was due to the crash, the metal would have had shredded edges.

the chasis has bend completely, chopping the whole left side and roof might have been the only hope to get those people out. We always talk about these speeding incidents (there is a whole thread about that here) but people just dont get it. Every car can go fast, the question is, how will you control it if god forbid somthing like this happens.

There is something more here. Trucks/ tractor trailers by law MUST have approved designed rear under ride bars ( see here https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/news-articles-driver-education-safety/228288-daily-unsafe-driving-behavior-we-all-involved-tailgating-5#post4478525 ) in Europe and USA. The BMW or for that matter the occupants are safe also for the fact that the truck or trolley it hit has the under ride bars. And the damage of hood shows that it worked really well. Yes the safety design of BMW for sure is playing its role really well. But in case of no safety bars at back of the truck, the outcome at such speeds is really different.
