I have a 2012 x adventure 660cc turbo jimny. In city, the mileage im getting is around 8 km/l with A/C. I don't know if this is a normal mileage in city, if not can someone guide me about improving it? Using hi-octane fuel as the car knocks on normal fuel. Let me share some experiences with this car.
Initially i googled around to find the recommended engine oil grade for this engine and came to know that it is 5w-30. Therefore I used Liqui Moly Special Tec AA Synthetic 5w-30 on my oil change. Before oil change i performed an engine flush and then poured this oil. I then used the car on this oil for about 2k 2.5k kms on this oil with no problems. After that I went to highway to interior Sindh from khi. On highway I touched around 120 km/h with 5k rpm. The car would not even touch 100 km/h on 4k rpm thats why I revved it hard, which caused the engine to be noisy. Later, after weeks my father took the car again to highway and this time he revved it pretty much to drive it faster. After 1 week, in the morning when i opened the bonnet to check engine oil level, there I saw that there is NONE!! I checked it multiple times still no oil. Then I immediately went to the mechanic and drained the oil and saw that only merely a litre came out of the engine. I was shocked! This time I poured 20w-50 on the advice of mechanic.
I was then checking the oil daily and after 1 week the oil level started to fall and the engine oil was turned black. We diagnosed it and found out that the TURBO had gone bad, which made the engine loose oil. I rebuild the turbo and till then, the car is not loosing oil and working fine. Still after 600 to 800 km of oil change the oil starts to turn a little black but the level is not dropping.( Was using total 20w-50 API SG)
So, I am now thinking about shifting to synthetics again 5w-30. But i thought I should try with ZIC 10w-40. I am currently using ZIC X5 Hi-flo 20w-50 API SM grade ( a lot better than total,shell etc of SG grades). So what are ur thoughts?
