Suppose even if the 5w30 & 10w30 are the recommended oil viscosity grades for this car you're using 10w40 instead of 5w30 which is more thicker compared to 5w30 & 10w30 that would cause your car to consume more fuel as a thicker oil puts more load onto the car's engine and not only that but a thicker oil will take a lot more time to get to the parts as compared to a thinner oil that will cause more wear & tear on the car's engine as most of the wear & tear happens when the engine is cold example a fat person will walk more slowly compared to a skinny person. thicker oils are used in car's whom engine's are worn out as a means of stopping them from consuming/burning oil even then that is juguad because such engines need to be overhauled. Alto 660cc engine is just a little bigger compared to 1liter Olpher milk's cotton box and using an oil that's thick as ghee in such a small engine would wear it out faster trust me

You'd be better off using a 0w30 instead of 5w30 & 10w30 Why? because they're all the same when the engine is at normal operating temperature only difference is the digit before the ''W'' & W stands for Winter not weight. It does not mean that your car will operate at such temperature in Winters it basically means it will operate at such temperature when the engine is cold. So a 0w will get to the parts more quicker compared to a 5w & 10w. In the past there used to be single grades oil both different for Summers & Winters then came multi-grades oils that can be used all year

& if you're one those people that believe 0w20 , 0w30 & 5w30 are thin oils & are for cold climate & wont survive the hot temperature of Pakistan then think again even in US a state like Texas in Summers is like hot Multan but still 0w20 is used. 0w20 , 0w30 & 5w30 also mostly come in Fully Synthetic & Fully Synthetic can absorb more heat compared to Semi Synthetic & Mineral oils not just that but on a Fully Synthetic oil cars give slight better fuel economy & over all better protection

as far as oil is concerned i knw all this theory bro...but previous owner was using 20w50 so i shifted it to 10w40...also gear ratios are different in this car as on 100kmh rpm is arround 3800 to 4000 which is not bad... only nissan pino and mazda carol have 4at..my tire size is 165 80 12..never had performance or fuel econmy related issues yet been using it since 2013 im the second owner...rehman autos is quite knowledgeable... try burraq autos in rawalpindi maybe he can help you.. because this car should easily give u atleast 15kml in isb if not more..

20w50? Damn that's a very thick oil too thick for some reason our mechanics think thicker oils are better when it is the opposite even some people think just because your car has high mileage 1LAC or above you should switch to a higher grade thicker oil because they think your engine is worn out & it will leak or burn oil if a thin oil is good but that concept is totally wrong because just because a car has high mileage does not mean its worn out it might still be in a good condition because no two identical cars with the identical mileage will have the same amount of wear & tear. I know a person whom car has 600LAC mileage in his Toyota crown and he's using 5w30 fully sythenic. I'd suggest you get a compression test done on your engine & if its okay switch to a 0w30 grade oil because if you continue to use a thicker oil it might save you some cash in the short but in the long run you'll end up paying more for the repair costs. I am also the second owner of my car & I only driven with in ISB , I asked Autoclub they said to use high octane for better average but when I was getting a compression done on my engine from Rehman Autos the mechanic asked me after performing a compression test are you using High octane I said yeah he said not to use it as its not for your car and even on web it says this car needs regular non lead gasoline. Some users on Pakwheels recommend using 50/50 ratio of regular & high octane because the fuel quality in Pak is bad & to avoid knocking as well. I once fueled from F-10 shell & my car engine started knocking the mechanics said to use high octane it stopped knocking but as soon the high octane ran out it used to knock again. So I got my fuel injectors ultrasonically bath cleaned from Burraq Autos and it stopped knocking it rarely knocked then but after switching to 0w20 from 5w30 it stopped knocking for good. I asked Burraq Autos Ustad Usman for fuel average issue and told him I have done all these services he said to me to buy a catalytic convertor cleaner and put it in the fuel tank and see if that improves your fuel average if it doesn't then let me know BUT I have already gotten the catalytic convertor cleaned so why would I need to clean it again

I have two 2009 model & 2013 registered Japanese Altos both G2 variants one is mine and one is my father's only difference is his has ABS brakes where as mine doesn't, both cars give 12km/liter average despite every work. My father's previous owner was using 10w40 and I switched to 5w30 the car didn't leak or burn any oils after switching to the thinner oil then I switched to 0w20 and no issues what so ever. as I stated before other than the 3 speed transmission. It could be the O2 ( Oxygen ) sensors they're also known as air fuel ratio sensors they have a life span of 100K after which they don't necessarily go bad but become lazy & cause higher fuel consumption they're a wear item & not meant to be cleaned. where as my car has 187K mileage if meter has not been reversed its still close to 200K. I think changing the O2 sensors alone should improve the fuel average my car has two one at the top of the catalytic converter & one underneath it. Suzuki OEM O2 sensors are not available and need to be bought from an importer costing 35K each so 35+35K = 70K that's quite expensive how ever new Taiwan O2 sensors having same OEM number as mine are available at Gariparts for 7K each. O2 sensors are always replaced with new ones as Kabli ( used ) ones come from cars that have almost the same mileage as your car & expecting good fuel economy from Kabli O2 sensors is like expecting gold from Brass polish

well then im quite lucky my weekly run is around 160km which i easily do in 1000rs petrol these days..and my car never knocked on regular petrol..and mostly i fill from attock f11..

What's the condition of transmission oil? When was it last changed.

My experience with 3AT in 06 mira was bad too. The best they can do is 12 whch u are getting... I was getting 11 with the lightest foot i have.

Do u drive with varying speeds or constant.
When driving constant, try to ease up on the pedal as much u can. Sometimes at constant 60 i would barely touch the pedal and it would drive normal with much less engine sound.

your car parts and components will be dealt as scrap so dont think about getting handsome amount against your current parts even if they seems like new.

The Transmission fluid was changed last year in February with Molygreen ECO ATF since my car needs ATF3317 & only Molygreen ECO ATF & Kixx multi ATF were compatible with that. I don't drive the car that much I have only done 16-17K since I bought the car. Also keep in mind the transmission fluid was changed & not flushed those are both different things in transmission fluid change the ATF pan is dropped & only half the amount of the transmission fluid is changed because there is still fluid in the torque convertor n Gearbox to get all that out the process is known transmission fluid flush that requires cooler line method. How ever its not recommended to do a transmission fluid flush on a car whose transmission fluid hasn't been changed/flushed before & the transmission fluid is black asf burnt smell with metal particles in it because chances are if you perform a transmission flush on such car the gears will start to slip. I have driven both with varying speeds & constantly. The guy above you has the same JDM Alto 3 speed AT and he gets 15-16KM/liter and the mini pajero 3 speed automatic that I linked above he used to get 12km/liter average then he changed his turbo engine with a non turbo one & his average dropped to 6km/liter he changed spark plugs increased to 10km/liter then he changed the fuel injectors it went from 10km/liter to 20km/liter

The car is 11 years old with almost 200K mileage if the meter has not been reversed. other then the 3 speed automatic transmission limit. as I told the the guy above you the O2 sensors wear out & effect the milage as well. the guy with the mini pajero 660cc 3AT fixed his average by changing the fuel injectors my point is 200K is a high mileage even if the engine is in a good condition there are other things that have a life span & simply wear out n in the OBD scanner might seem fine & don't give any error codes an example being O2 sensors & fuel injectors. Fuel filter of this car has never been replaced before isn't available locally & kabli one is of no use and needs to be bought from an importer costs around 20K

The thing is in Pakistan people will say ''agar koi issue or masala nahi day raha hain to replace maat karo'' & will often hear the terms like ''kuch nahi hotah hain'' same people don't bother changing gear oil , brake fluid , coolant of their cars & use tap water in the battery instead of distilled water. use Guard filters

So I think doing the following things underneath will surely improve the average

A swap of the transmission & ECU with 4 speed one
New O2 sensors
New Fuel filter
& changing fuel injectors

Yeah makes sense because obviously they'll buy it cheaper than they're selling for. It would be wise not to exchange them & sell them on olx or pakwheels

So are u not able to find Taiwanese O2 sensors?
Why not first replace this, as it may solve ur problem, also you are nearing 200k km.

Finding a used 4AT and its ecu is alone a bit tricky and then its totally a gamble if it works properly after installation.

Gariparts sells them for 7K each , your right I should replace both O2 sensors and I am sure that changing them alone should make a difference
