I have a city 2007,does it has CAT ? i went to a silenser wala for cleaning of CAT but he told that "is ma nai ata"

Guys in Bilal gunj Lahore. Vitz manifold is available for 6-7k in which cat is installed, instead ki removing it and then hearing all those crappy noises and damaging the other components, one should change it. I just did mine and the car is like brand new.

In Corolla you can remove the midsection of the exhaust pipe by unscrewing two bolts at front and rear. Must be similar arrangement in other Toyota products. Then instead of breaking the catalytic converter you can clean it with pressurized air blown from rear to forward direction (i.e. reverse of normal exhaust flow). Brown dust like substance will blow out and then CATCON will be good for another 40K KM. It also helps not to fill up from PSO and Attock, instead fill up from Shell and Caltex.

U should first rule out other things that can cause ur pick to be sluggish such as dirty plugs or a clogged fuel filter..get ur car tuned first then think about catalytic converter..there isnt any theoretical evidence to suggest that u can clean the catalytic converter but u can try visiting any silencer wala and asking him to clean it with pressurised air..make sure u remove the 02 sensors(both upstream and downstream) before cleaning..

Got plugs checked n new filter installed, same old pick. Will now go for cat clean up via air blow.

One of Toyota service centers removed a bag of dust from my Vitz 10 silencer. Since then my average has dropped to 10 km/Liter(using octane). Carbon emissions have increased and cars noise.
Removing the CAT is rubbish i believe

I hope everyone is fine .
Today i saw this thread and i am surprised after going through it .
Catalyst converter is there for a reason . It converts 1- NOx to N2 and O2 ,
2- CO to CO2 ( carbon monoxide is deadly gas)
3-. HC which is the unburnt fuel (in diesel engines) to H2O and CO2
4-. Traps ash that cloggs the Catalyst .
If we don't have any laws enforcing emissions than it does not mean that we should remove CAT for a fraction of efficiency . We have to think about air quality in which we have to breath . Removing CAT should be discouraged .
Cleaning it from a dealership will cost around 2-3k and it stays good for around 50k -70k kms . So its a once per year / 2 years .
I believe here every one can spare 3k (who owns a car of 5lac plus ) for a global cause .

I will ask mods to start compain to discourage this practice as they did for charging OWN .

I agree. The information is obsolete as well. Now local cars are also equipped with Catalytic Converters and JDMs have increased in many numbers.

Bhaijan, why dontbyou file a petition against the refineries and the OMCs to sell fuel with low lead content. Also the local manufacturers do not even install a catalytuc converter so why dont you go take up that fight instead of worrying about a handful of imported car owners whose cars actually do have a device that reduces pollution, which fails because the fuel supplied locally is not compatible

the CAT is actually made of some ceramic like substance, so now you have to break it into pieces and it would come out from the pipe (be patient, this would take some time and effort). you can use a large phillips screwdriver or metal rod like barbque wali seekh, or saria with sharp edge
