Luxury starts with the plant you have under the hood.... a 4-cylinder can never be as smooth (or as responsive) as the 6 cylinder engine. the difference is worlds apart. So cars like mark X are far superior in performance (within this price range). Then comes the brand image. Premio carries the toyota undertone too heavily, whereas mark X is positioned as an upscale, independant line in luxury cars. like the lexus thing, if you will. Or the infiniti (which is actually nissan). Besides that, Mark x and the accords also have several onboard computers that make them alot more sophisticated in terms handling, driving convenience and troubleshooting (or maintenance). You can read about it on the web.
Coming to luxury, i think a fully souped-up, full option 2.4 Ltr CL9 (2005), under 30K driven with full body kit, wood trimming, dvd/navi/camera, wood trimming, recaro seats, 18" type-r alloys, SUNROOF and double exhaust...... will cost you around 2 million in khi.
So you see the difference.
