Your comments are always welcome! It's true that a lot of people want individuality for their cars. So they go to these tuners. Afterwards, it's a question of how long you're going to keep your car. A standard car, as powerful as it is, is designed by law to work perfectly, mechanically for 150,000 kms (at least in the EU, I'm not sure about other countries) that i to say, that the suspension, transmission, engine, emissions controls etc. Normally, they can work a lot longer. When you tune your car, it depends on the standard of tuning, but in a lot of cases, the life of the car is drastically reduced. A lot of high quality tuners understand this and offer their own warranties to allay some fears of customers. Euro tuners like Hartge, Alpina, Autodelta, Ralliart etc all propose packages. But they are expensive. In France it is almost illegal to modify your car in any way, so all modification is done in a "hidden" fashion. So there isn't a big tuner community here.
Suspension and braking mods are a bit different. They are possible to be done to an extent with parts having a greater endurance and quality. Not specification though. It's very easy to confuse an ABS or ESP system by fitting different diameter brake disks or callipers without recalibration. Same for suspension. If you keep the same damping / springing rates, normally you do not have problems. If you stray away from original components, you start to get problems in suspension geometry, the ESP goes confused, and it either cuts in too early, or cuts in too late, so you want have the safety net you were expecting.
Cheers!
