This is democracy, not communism. We, as citizens, can do whatever the hell we want with our money!

You're right. The more money circulating in our economy, the stronger it gets but the problem is; we aren't self sufficient. Not even close!
Everything from needles to aeroplanes is LITERALLY imported! Everything is imported because importing stuff from China is MUCH cheaper, not to mention easier than investing money on technology, machinery and labour.
Now sure we can counter this by blindly slapping taxes on imports, and that's exactly what our current government is doing (Imports are down 7%) but... It will change nothing except bring down our quality of life a notch or two.
First, we need to grow our industrial sector, and for that to happen we need to make Pakistan a desirable place for investors, who have stacks of foreign currency collecting dust in big vaults. And for that we need political stability, honest leaders, level headed finance ministers, students with relevant education, R&D facilities, tax free industrial zones and whatnot.
Consider all this and suddenly AliExpress starts to look like a blessing!
