@Ishtiaq778 bro can you explain in little detail what should be initial charge amps and for how long it should be charged? what should be the cut off.
I think if we set ups amps accordingly then can charge it with ups too.. am I right?

But yeah loadsheding is another issue... what if light goes while initial charging... is it ok?

i bought a honda civic 1.8 2008.2 months back it has volta maintenance free battery in it.everything was quit perfect but some days back i parked ghe car for 3 days and after that when i started it made some jercks but got started.i guess might be some reasone and didn't done anything.now my car was parked for almost a whole week.and when i tried to start today was unable to start.battery was fully dead.when i inspected it showed white signal (needs charging).i started the car with help of another one.and drove it almost an hour thought that it would be charged as usually wet batteries do.but signal was same white.kindly suggest me what to do now what would be the solution for it? Changing battery or any maintenance?

Dear, get your battery recharged @ 2 to 3 ampere from a good battery guy.....your battery will be fine soon.

Thanks buddy, but still main post does not mention amps for initial charging. Maybe you can update it to add this info. It will be helpful.

My battery Volta NS175 almost 3 years old is throwing acid out from closed cap. Recently changed the acid with new one. The acid level is fine not overfill and caps are tight enough but still acid is coming through closed cap.

Can any expert tell why battery is throwing the acid out of closed cap?

If battery is warm to touch, then ups is overcharging............check electrolyte level as well

2nd ups is not overcharging and giving 5.1A to battery. And when battery is fully charged, ups stop charging battery.

3rs battery is cool to touch during charging and when fully charged.

The acid is spilling from one cap just near to -ve terminal. As battery is 3 years old and back up before adding acid was 3.5hrs and after addition of acid-not check now.

This cell is week...........short internally.....3year is very good service of your battery. Take out some electrolyte for this cell

Yes 3year is very good service. Still battery is giving me 3hrs backup and soon I will replace the battery.

good to see that you did three years on these batteries, since you have changed the electrolyte so take some extra electrolyte out from the cell and being every cell to its level as indicated my manufacturer> "look for the mark on batteries"

this happens because during discharging or discharged battery still have electrolyte absorbed in her cell, during charging, sulfuric acid comes out and mixes with the electrolyte in battery thats why you experience an increase in level of electrolyte in batteries. that's why flush should always be performed after fully charging the batteries.

you should make finals adjustments on her level once batteries are fully charged and this thing does not indicates any thing such as if batteries are weak or not.

No need to change the batteries if back time is ok.

Before flushing the battery, my battery was fully charged, then flushing is performed with acid of gravity of 1250 and battery is kept place for at least 30min before connected to ups.

After 30min of addition of new acid then battery is connected to ups with no load means when wapda is available. Then again battery was fully charged as well after addition of new acid.

Also acid level is fine not overfill-because I always take care the level of acid. So this is not problem.

Great, batteries seems fine, usually it is normal for electrolyte to spill after flush for the first time as some electrolyte absorbed in cells will go back into the batteries. This increase in level for the first time may still be experienced in charged batteries but if they were initially discharged then surely the level will increase more. Your post is an ideal example, if batteries are maintained properly on good tuned ups, then it surely lasts longer than three years. Keep using them for as long as it can go.

Problem: Discharging of battery
1. Last year, My Local made 1000W ups keep lowering the battery gravity until I had to get battery gravity/charge again for Rs.350.
2. So, I exchanged my old NS 175 which lasted 1.5 Years with new Volt NS 175 battery. But it didn't solve the problem.
3. I give UPS and battery to UPS Guy, He changed the card. and charged around Rs.2500 (including pick n drop + battery recharge + led change)
4. Still ups show same behavior of discharging the battery over the month.
5. I keep getting the battery recharge as quick fix every month
6. On 28 March I got new battery Phoenix XP165. Just after week its gravity was 1150 checked by hydrometer
7. I took battery and ups to ups guy on 2nd April, He said the ups cut off was not 1250. He did the tuning and charged Rs.600.
8. 13 April, I checked the battery its gravity is 1150 again. I am just using i5 pc and energy saver, sometimes Fan.

P.S. There is this white clot of some material at bottom of ups ( see Pic). I Guess previous battery also have these clots. Battery dealer's Charging place seem to giving it freely in dowry :P. I am going to wash it today with one spoon baking soda mixed in glass of water.

Kindly advised me. I am stuck, so is these 2 different Ups guys ( 1st card changer & 2nd Tuner) . I will be more than happy to follow your lead

tells you that you need to pour a good electrolyte in your batteries and if you adjust the charging rate and cut off voltage between 14.0V to 14.4V then you will never face these issues.

Since, your BATTERY is XP 165 PHEONIX the website says that it has an amp-hr rating of 120 amp-hr so adjust the charging rate to 7 amperes and cut of voltage to 14.2 Volts.

P.S: pheonix ugs grade batteries are better then xp grade as they have been manufactured for ups.
If you are able to do these two things, then you are good to go. No need to wash it, but if you can purchase a good electrolyte from pryo chemicals then drain it to fill a good one.

1. Good Electrolyte: I will get Electrolyte from Pyrochem. If it take some time, I will find supplier who use "DISTILLED AND DE-IONIZED WATER" to make electrolyte.
2. Charging rate: Thanks for updating me about actual Amp hr i.e 120. Earlier, the dealer checked from his file and told me wrong one i.e 130
According to the formula: 120/10. 12 should be my maximum charging rate. I just run my pc, saver and fan. Right now its 2 to 3 hours loadsheding in Islamabad.
i. According to: KNOW YOUR SITUATION: Should I set my charging rate to 10 or higher ( max 12 ) for summer? After summer i will change it back to 7. Back time is priority right now not battery life. Later I will get bigger battery UGS series as u suggested, then lower charging rate will suffice.
ii. Cut off voltage: 14.2 Volts. Should I change it for summer as well?

Bro filling above recommended line or till top of vent is called Over-watering. Excessive watering of a battery results in additional dilution of the electrolyte, resulting in reduced battery performance.

P.S. Additionally, watering the battery before charging may result in electrolyte overflow and unnecessary additional maintenance

Let's see what rectification expert will suggest. Electrolyte in my battery are touching the bottom of all six vent well (see pic). I hope to get advice as well.
