Guys, Ceratec, motor protect etc. and any other additives are recommended to be used at the minimum level. Too much usage is not good for your engines especially seals. Further, fully synthetic oils are designed for engines manufactured under strict control of quality where even temperature matters during manufacturing/assembling (not local assembled engines). Also, do research and find out for yourself, if you are changing fully synthetic oil more frequently you are actually causing more damage to your engine. Fully synthetic oils (when poured in new) cause max wear and tear within the engine ... the wear & tear reduces as they get some miles on them. Regular oil filter change is also a must. People looking at the color of oil as a gauge to know the quality of oil are hugely mistaken ... that's not how you figure out the oil quality. Your mineral oil if changed within 3 mo or max 5000km is as good as a synthetic oil .... based on a study conducted on NY taxi cabs (mineral vs synthetic oil) .... Of course, synthetic result in reduced wear & tear overall and better fuel efficiency in the long run ... hope this helps ....

I used liqui moly 10-40w Semi Synthetic oil in my 5AFE motor. (Which they claim can easily do 10000Km)

Completed 8000KM so far not even a single drop of oil reduced and engine is running very nice. The oil shows it can easily do another 2000KM.

U can use any synthetic oil upto 10k KMs. It depends on oil filter.

With local oil filters - using an expensive synthetic oil is - I think simply the waste of money.

I dont think my car needs it as its engine is in good condition and petromin oils ROCK !
But excellent for old vehicles.

Petromin is a good oil infact.
But your statement should need to be vice versa in my thinking
New and good engine needs protection more for wear and tear, and its not of much use if its given its shine away.

Well i Dont agree with any bcoz most of any i used they start to burn after 5000KM.

I replace my oil Filter at 5k.

Well actually fully synthetic oils are not recommended for new engines because these type of oils have a poor break in quality due to its high lubricating qualities. Thus extra lubricating additives might be harmfull for new engines.

Well the question in here was for Cera Tec not synthetic oils, and secondly for the engines that have done their innitial running and the break-in period has been ended. When I last renewed my car's engine I also ran on a good mineral oil for the first 1500 kms.

But ever wondered what does a brand new Merc, BMW or Audi now has in the engine? Whatever the brand is, it is pure Synthetic...

Vaqas, I think you are talking about the LM MoS2 10W40 Oil here. Thats the one is semi-synthetic that is available here in PK. But how did you get it in 3 Litres? or 1 Litres? The only available packings for them is 4L or 5L (that too is available here I think in 15W40). 4L one nearly costs you Rs.3100, that is indeed Rs.775 per litre.

By the way I am using the same oil too.

Actually the question was that if new engines need more lubrication or not that older engines.
First i told you about the break in period.
And even after the break in period, new engines dont need much lubrication as old engines because, the old engine has been worn out and used much more thus its parts become rough and tiny gaps are created with in. Thus more lubricant and a thicker oil should be used in an old engine. And thats why i said that people who own a new car dont really need to waste there money on oil additives. And oils like petromin already have high class additives in them to begin with.

Islamabad dealer what he do is if you need 3 L he will open a new pack of 4L take out 3L and give it to you :p.

He will even change your engine oil and charge you for the amount of oil used. But i like to change oil at home so i just buy 3 L for my 1500CC Engine which takes around 2.8L

Well its ur bad luck - but technically u shouldn't face any such issue with good brands.

liquimoly oil and toyota oem filter. there is also a japanese engine oil with toyota dealers in cans. that is also gud
