Lightmare: Are you using HID's in your headlights? Please don't do it

They are saying using HIDs in stock housing are absolutely ok

i asked them wouldn't it glare the oncoming traffic if i get HIDs in Halogens and he said i won't until and unless you position it towards road and not above

I wish they remembered the 7th and 8th grade Reflection and Refraction chapters in the basic science. You point it up or down, the HID is in halogen and it dazzles. Its just a "shashka" [the narrator in the video also call it fashion]. The people who sells DRUGS never say it's harmful , simple theory. There are scientific HID retrofit studies in the opening post conducted by a well respected labs. I wish Sehgal motors read and then talk about it in their video.

Offtopic: How about the LED ballasts bulb they had showed in the video . are they good or equally bad as HIDs in stock halogen housings.

A certain bulb type size/type go in a certain designed halogen housing. That's why we have diffrent types of bulbs. The lights is not reflected the way it should be when you put in a diffrent bulb. In case of HID the light focal point is changed and the light scatter and dint converge as it should be. No matter HID or LED, if it's halogen housing , a regular halogen bulb is needed. Both LED and HID bulb will dazzle due to scattered pattern as both bulb are also longer in length and moved the focal point.

If you change position of the bulb , the pattern will change, in case of HID and LED the pattern change due to different than actual required. length of the bulb

100% agreed. Thats why i motivate people for a proper HID retrofit. If they want to upgrade stock headlights then do it in a proper way and with quality projectors.
Its 100 times better than stock halogens and other PNP upgrades that only causes glare.

They don' even know what are HID's....one of my acquaintance was challaned on lyari expressway as he had FF HID's in JDM wagon R

What would you recommend for people who have factory fitted xenon lights or led headlights like on my BMW X5 imported via Dewan motors if some policeman stops. What's the best course of action? Show him the owners manual that mentions them?

Haven't been stopped yet though probably because the beam seams about 4300k temperature not very bluish.

And it's not just HID lights I think people especially in German cars should mind their rear fog lights as well. I have in last week seen one Porsche and one BMW with rear fog lights enabled And they also seemed distracting.

That car must have projects or even if not then the reflector must be keeping lights low. Hids are allowed if the reflectors produce straight cut off. (Dont know the exact word) in tha case they don't disturb others and usually the manufacturers use Led lights not HIDs

The officer kept on arguing for an hour that this is illegal even after we assured him that these aren't bixenon and only work as low beams

There is no reason to stop as they are FF number 1 and secondly they don't blind anyone.
