Hey guys I did a round trip of entire north, from lhr>naran>jaglot>skardu>deosai>chillam>kargil>minimerg>astore>murree>lhr.

I had amazing experience on it. I did not post here due to floods and all.

Anyways today when I tried to go out on Kia it did don't even unlock doors, I had to use the key to open its door and then checked the battery was dead. It was parked for 4 days and battery died.

Does anyone else this experience. I had to call a electrician to jump start it. Now it's fine. But should I get its battery changed? Or should I take it to showroom.

Hello everyone,

So I ended up going with the Sportage Alpha in the end. I was leaning towards the Corolla Grande, but the build quality, comfort, and road presence of the Sportage swayed me.

I do have a couple of questions that I was hoping you all would be able to help out with:
1. Is there a recommended engine break-in period? If so, what are the recommended RPMs I should keep the car below?
2. Are there any other first steps I should take? I'm aware that I need to take the car for an initial inspection once I've done 1000 kilometers.
3. What are the rules of Kia's warranties? I've read that I'm not allowed to make any electrical modifications to the car, and that I can't take my own supplies (engine oil, oil filter, air filter) whenever I take the car for routine maintenance.
4. How strictly do I have to follow the maintenance schedule? I don't think I'll be using the car very frequently during the first two years, and I probably won't hit 5000 kilometers very soon.
5. I will probably get the car insured. Will installing a tracker also void the warranty?

1. No break in required. If driving on long routes, change speed every 10/15 minutes for the first 1k km

3. Oil change (costing 10k every 3-4 months) and 5/10/15/20k km periodic maintenance to maintain kia warranty
4. They track your record and call you in after every 3 months, extend that to 4 since your car will literally be parked in the house and tell them you will do periodic maintenance on given kms
5. Get insurance, ignore tracker. Dont do any modifications to maintain warranty

First of all, congratulations on your purchase. Here are the responses:-

1. Yes, break in in required even in the most expensive of saloons all over the world. Please Google or check reviews of any top auto analysts and reviewers and they will tell you so. First 1000 km, drive below 100 km/he and don't rev beyond 2.5k rpm at lower speeds. Don't take the car on motorway as you have to make the gear exercise at varying speeds and RPMs.

3. You can't do anything from outside. Oil, electrical modifications, ANYTHING you change, warranty will be void. That's a dilemma but we have to live with it

4. Not strictly. You can go even after prolonged periods and they don't say anything. Yes, if you will go for warranty claim, I think they will make it a reason to not cover your fault under warranty... But fingers crossed

Nope. All these engines are pre run. No break in needed. You can get in begin to gun it from day one, even the company representives tell you that.

here you might be able to find some info, i have canceled my orders for both cars that i booked so i can not try it myself. otherwise i would've posted here.

Bro I humbly would like to differ. I even have few ppl known inside Toyota and Kia who agree with me but say that we say this to customers cause we hope early returns of the cars. Why does Toyota put 20W50 when their own manual says 5W30 ? Pre run engine are placed at a test bench at a constant RPM with no load, no gear box, no environmental condition. The beating of the road actually brings out the real issues. Moreover, I have tried and tested at least 10 different cars (few mine, few of friends) where if you break the engine and check it's performance and fuel average in comparison to an engine which is not cared for from word go, there is hell of a difference in their drive..... SPECIALLY in their fuel economy.

Rest, you definitely have your own opinion and I respect that. This is just one of the video links I'm sharing

Really? How much difference was there in the fuel economy? Because there is no technical data or science to support that.
Had you said excessive wear and tear and engine dying early, sure, can be debated, but performance and economy difference... Would like to know the science behind it please

Can't say about the mats but there is no match to Umair Ali car poshish in DHA . Google him.

Kia warranty is a scam, you need to go there after every 3 months. Everything is expensive there, double the cost. I am glad that i bought a used sportage and now maintaining it myself at a fraction of cost. Since it is as 2020 model, warranty would expire in 2024 march anyway. We have been maintaining corolla and civic by ourselves so why not sportage.

Now read the booklet and check where it says that lube and filter service is mandatory from Kia showrooms.

Will get to that later during lunch, car is parked too far away. But given that the website says maintenance and repairs are to be performed exclusively by Lucky Motors authorized service centers, does that not cover lube and filter service? They might say official website is as good as a letterhead.
