They/ Lucky are diverting their Sorento resources to Peugeot brand vehicles. Peugeot is using the same factory where KIA is assembled, obviously a separate line.

Keep in mind all markets you mentioned have either KIA assmbley by KIA themselves locally or imported for those markets. US is doing for North American market, South Korea and Vietnam is doing local and exports.

Its Pakistan where KIA works as joint venture and supplier of kits. I dont see next Sorento in Pakistan anytime soon. Yes, next Sorento will come but don't expect it before the next generation of Sportage.

KIA next main product is replacement of Sportage [ early to mid 2023] and they believe that their next model will take over major market so, they are not worried if Sorento failed as far as sales. They will quickly recover.

I remember when the 9th gen civic came, 8th gen old stock got pretty decent discounts. Suzuki discounted wagon r by 1 lakhs about a year after its launch. Old shape fortuner got pretty steep discounts near its end of production. Swift was being sold with a 50k discount in 2017 with ready delivery. Every manufacturer has given discounts when sales are unexpectedly low.

Unfortunately paks economy has taken a really weird turn where sales never drop no matter how high the prices get. And it's not just Pakistan either, the whole world is seeing this very weird phenomenon. Imagine used kias in USA are selling easily well above their MSRP, these same cars used to depreciate 20pc right off the lot.

Sorento discount is quite shocking honestly, the cars unfortunately too boring to get any attention even in the current supplier market. I'm still willing to bet anyone who gets these discounted sorentos is gonna basically make a lot of money really soon as when this current stock depletes, the market for these will go up a lot in just a few months, always has happened before. Undesirable discounted cars are always the best deals, just remember a couple years ago used 9th gen civics used to sell for as low as 16 lakh rupees.

Yes but still resale of 9th Gen is slower than corolla of the same year, that's the difference. No one is willing to buy Sorento because this car is already quite old. People are buying older generations of city etc because of limited choice, but if I have 80 lakhs I have plenty of options including REVO or slightly used Fortuner which are proper SUVs.

REVO & Fortuner are Toyotas so you can buy spare parts from anywhere at a low cost plus you can buy used Kabali parts as well. And when KIA themselves agree that launching an older generation of Sorento is a big mistake then the people who are still defending it are stupid. Btw I own civic 9th gen so I know about its resale.

Diesel fortuner which is comparable to the 3.5 Sorento is now 3m rs more than Sorento. For that much difference, Sorento is definitely worth a look. Plus fortuner is extremely uncomfortable as well. Used diesel ones are up to 9m. Just remember, fortuner used to be an undesirable car too back in the day.

Sorento is a more undesirable car, and the market speaks for itself. Anyway, it's officially a flop model now. A person can buy Glory 580 Pro for seven seats and can save 3 million too.

I am no fan of the Sorento but it should NEVER be compared to Glory 580. In fact, they shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence.

Exactly! Like how you can't mention Sorento and Fortuner in the same sentence. They are the car of a different league.

It really pisses me off when people compare Sorento and Fortuner. Both belongs to different leagues and the driving pleasure and comfort of Sorento is miles ahead of Fortuner. I ditched my 2018 Fortuner Sigma just because of that as driving it in city was very tiresome for me. I opted for Sorento 2.4FWD and i am an extremely happy camper. I am not the only one as there are many in my circle who opted for these Sorentos and are really happy.

Pakistani auto market is weird in a way that here people buy their vehicles for 2nd owner mostly (to get a good resale value) and not for themselves or as per their own liking or for their own driving pleasure. At the moment Sorento 2.4FWD seems to be the best (locally assembled) value for money 7 seater vehicle in the market IMO. I am bit old school and doesn't care if the interior is boring or not stupidly flashy. I value driving comfort and pleasure more over those SHASHKA, even resale value. When you start getting older, you would want a vehicle that is more comfortable and easy to drive especially in our city traffic and doesn't make you feel exhausted end of the day. Many youngsters wont comprehend this until they are old enough :sunglasses:

Fortuner is just a low end off road suv, while most people buying it will never take it off road ever. So dealing with all the disadvantages of a low end off roader just cause it looks cool. On the other hand Sorento is like an overgrown crossover, so it's more suitable for most buyers as it's definitely gonna be more comfortable. Fortuner is so horribly uncomfortable, it makes even the 5th gen honda city feel comfortable in comparison. Almost no leg room for rear passengers, extremely bumpy ride like rickshaws, horribly underpowered and fuel inefficient in the petrol variant.

People compared Sorento with Fortuner back when they were priced almost the same. The problem with Sorento back then was that it wasn't good value for money compared to a Fortuner. Fortuner isn't uncomfortable due to some flaws, it's just its inherent characteristics being based on the Hilux platform. Otherwise back then for the same price you got a full-fledged Toyota SUV with rock solid reliability, a very powerful diesel engine, proper off-road capabilities and 7 seats and much more. The outdated Sorento just paled in comparison.

With Fortuner now over 1 crore, the Sorento is a very good car for its price, particularly the 2.4L AWD variant.

I'm sure you would still be having your sorento. Would like your long term review of sorts about it as it must've crossed 10k km for sure by now. The car seems a very viable option considering how sportage prices have sky rocketed now.

Waiting for your feedback.

How is the fuel average of 2.4 AWD compared to 3.5 V6?

Given that Kia is offering both for the same price at the moment, is 3.5L a better value?

Interested in hearing from the owners.

Have driven my 2.4 FWD for 28k KMs so far. Took it to Quetta and then Kumrat (till Thal) with 3 adults and 3 children and luggage on roof rails.
When I bought it and back in June 2021 there was so much criticism on my selection that I started thinking that should replace it.
I upgraded to sorento from 2018 Civic. Have kept all generations of civic since 2005 till date. Have also kept 2008 and 2013 model Altis. Have also kept 2001 Prdao for a year and 2017 Model Forturner for about 6 months.
I would easily say that sorento beats all of these in terms of comfort, city and highways drive experience is much much better than Any vehicle. Only civic comes closer to it in terms of comfort.
The fuel average in city is 8.5/9 km and on highway exceeds 12 km/l.
It is so spacious that both second row and last row passengers have better leg room than forturner. Suspension is very nice.
It is no comparison with forutner and SUV as it is not build as off road vehicle. We in pakistan do wrong comparisons that's not right.
Sitting at 6.8 million in comparison to MG or any other 5 seater it is one of the beat choice.
KIA dealership is as good as Honda for after sale support.
I am happy with it
