When my Chanhong Ruba ac is running, the pressure is 130psi but the AC guy said its low, it should be 150psi. The AC seems to be working fine, so need to confirm.

Had to get gas refilled so asked the technician to use a vacuum pump but he tried to convince me that the ac automatically vacuum's if the valve is opened and once the compressor turns on so pump not required. Any idea to what extent was he right?

For r410 do not exceed 120 psi (suction) when compressor is running at full speed. Check amperes mentioned on label.

For r32 do not exceed 115 psi.

Give margin for error. Also when temp increases head pressure also increases. So keep pressures at safe levels. Overfilling will damage compressor and may cause leakage/blast.

Also if label specifically mention suction pressure then follow that.

Just did some googling and seems like 120-130 psi is recommended suction pressure. However, they also say that it changes based on ambient temperature. But I can't figure out how to adjust this number based on temperature?

In my case the pressure was 130psi and temp around 35C so I don't think there was any loss of gas whatsoever, but the idiot topped it up to 150psi.

What should I do now? Ask him to come back again and just remove the excess gas and bring it back down to 130psi (the original gas pressure).

The only other option is to release all gas and refill it, any idea how much R-410a would be for 1.5Ton AC?

I recently got gas refilled by Gree in 1.5 ton
Cost was 7000/-.
If u go that route, be sure to discharge, then vacuum, then hold the vacuum and in the end recharge.

I have a completely bog standard 1.5 ton inverter split air conditioner, that has now been butchered twice by the fools that call themselves AC technicians in Karachi.

One used a torch to weld the evaporator coils, warping and destroying the fins in the process, pressure-tested the system with outside air, then used a refrigerator compressor to pull vacuum "to 25 microns" measured by "feel."

Then the "technicians" from Pakref.com came over, attached a gauge to the suction line and said they'd use a spray bottle with soapy water to find the leak. Using a UV dye would be too "hi-fi."

I'm located in Karachi. Does anyone know of a decent home AC repair shop that uses the right tools, methods and equipment, and charges refrigerant correctly? It seems like all we have are chimpanzees saying "kompni walay bhi aisay karte hain."

What is the exact issue you are having?
What is the brand of your inverter?
Evaporator coils repair generally lasts one season if you are lucky
Only solution is new coil from the company

Forget evaporator repair. Replace the indoor. Jitna marzi evaporator repair karalo, koi afaaqa nai hona. Wate of time and money.

I have a Kenwood KDC-1804S. Evaporator coil had developed a leak. Was soldered and repaired. Refrigerant has leaked out again, suction line shows 60 psi of pressure. Do you know of any companies or repair shops that can procure and install a new evaporator correctly?

@mshoaib432722 even if I replace the indoor unit, I need someone to do a decent job vacuuming the system and filling the correct weight of refrigerant.

Register a complaint with Kenwood and ask for a new coil, gas charge with a proper vacuum pump.
If you have already gone that route, what did Kenwood say?
