I have driven my car around 69k kms. It is a 2015 model. The reasons I didn't consider wagonr over this are:
- Better safety features. ABS brakes, Airbags etc can save your life when it is required. I have been in a major accident, and I appreciate these features more than ever.
- Better comfort. The suspension is way better than wagonr and new cultus both. The rear seats are comfy and spacious, with rear headrests and proper sofa type seats, contrary to wagonr's "phatta" seats at the back.
- Better on long drives. Bigger engine displacement, more power and torque and a lower center of gravity makes it much better on motorways. Wagonr is not very stable at highway speeds, especially in crosswinds.
- Better value for money. Overall, the features you get in this are over the top, as compared to the wagonr. I don't think that needs to be elaborated.
- The two cars are different categories. Wagonr is a kei car base, which has been elongated to fit a 1.0L engine, and its suspension and passenger compartment is that of a kei car. V2 has a subcompact base, which is used in hatchbacks and sedans both. Kei cars are mostly local use and grocery shopping cars. subcompact cars are also not very much preferred for long routes, but are much better than kei cars at least. The V2 has a longer wheelbase, independent rear suspension and bigger cargo and passenger volume owing to its different category.
Overall, throughout the time I have kept it, it has been reliable. Never caused any unnecessary issue and has been working great with normal maintenance. As mentioned above, spare parts are available in the market, except for body parts. One thing that is an issue with some people is the wind noise. In my personal opinion, I didn't notice it at first, unless someone told me about it. Anyhow, people have used many ways to fix that with varying degrees of success.
As for the cars you are seeing on installments, they are mostly car leasing companies. You will find very few of them to be actual users. I am selling my V2 for an upgrade, and looking at ads of Aqua, and there are a lot of Aqua ads from the same people too. It is the same for most cars. They just want to sell you the car on installments, none of them have bought it or are using it, they are just dealers. You can verify by calling them and asking to test drive and see the car. There are alot of ads by dealers on pakwheels as well, for zero meter cars too, so you will find those too. As per my estimate, more than 3000 V2s have been sold since it was launched, but you will still see only a handful of ads regarding the car because most people who have bought it are keeping it for good. My own brother also bought a V2 after driving my car and is also a happy user. On the whatsapp group and fb group of V2 owners, you will find many satisfied users. So it's not like everyone wants to get rid of it.
Overall, the car has its pros and cons. It is not an exceptional car, and must not be compared with cars costing twice its own price, like the Corolla etc. In the price tag it is offered in, it is a very good value for money as per my opinion.
