I am planning to buy civic 97 with an auto transmission n I am confused cz someone told me that auto was available with vti engine only. So now can u guide me was your car auto n how could a person without much technical knowledge can identify a vti or exi engine?
some people have swapped transmission without changing proper ecu's and other prerequisites. how can I verify this issue ..please guys guide me .
if someone can post a pic showing which engine is vti n which one is exi... plz
what else I need to keep in mind while buying an Auto 97 civic.

Auto came with exi and vti both, to check if its originally auto or manual check car file on honda certificate it will be written, to check engine capacity check it code if it d15 its exi 1500 cc and if its d16 its 1600 cc. Exi have simple head and VTI head written on Top cover VTI also have soleniods... you can wait for senior members comments may be my knowledge is wrong.... regarding engine swap ecu is more important for v-tec and for auto gear.

what else I need to keep in mind while buying an Auto 97 civic.

Auto comes in exi and vti (and vti oriel)
Exi will have a 1500cc engine, with simple Honda written on the valve cover, and air filter box on top of the intake manifold.
Vti will have a 1600cc engine, with Honda VTEC written on the valve cover, and air filter box will be bigger and on the left side of the engine.

^ of course this all is based on the car being in original condition.

The differences mentioned above are harder to spot if the car undergoes a swap. So as a double check tally the engine capacity with that mentioned on the papers of the car to differentiate between exi and vti

Some vtec engines have simply honda written on valve cover but one can get it clear by seeing solenoid. Single vtec has one solenoid and two stage and three stage vtec has two solenoids.

I got 430km in full tank 70% with a.c

And all driving with hard pedal.

fuel tank is possibly 45 Ltrs, so that means approx 9.5Ltrs/km, which is not bad if you are accelerating hard.

Yeah .. totaly hard driven.. after swap it was not 9km.. i was getting 6- 7 km/ltr.. but after 5 6 days it turned 9km automatically. Didnt even got cng wiring donr after swap​..

Maverickiz3d .. can u guide me what is the cause when i have 3 to 4 persons in car .. it reacts like turtle .. i swapped engine but now suspension left but still i want suggestions that what would be the cause.. as my suspension totaly fished up.. can car can react like this due to suspension ? I googled alot but didnt got any thread or forum related to my issue.

Tyres r also getting hot after driving.. nd shocks making noise when i press the car up nd down

Please shed some light on it.

at what rpm does it feel slow? Does the acceleration improves at certain rpm?

As for bearing, is the wheel making humming noise on 50+ kmph speeds? You can check for vibration by lifting the wheel on jack, and spinning the wheel by hand; then touch the car body to feel the vibration. If there is vibration, then you should get the bearing changed. In civic 95, you have to change whole hub; not sure about EK.
