well, our group of friends hav made a lot of fun on this "corolla diesel, corolla diesel" ad on radio... every time sumthing funny or annoying happenes...we start singing corolla diesel corolla diesel
its kinda stupid but we enjoy it alot

I am an old fan of diesels. I have owned many diesel powered cars. I am driving a 2D Saloon since 2002 and its done slightly above 100k by now. On motorway at speed limits I do get 16 km / ltr. With a 55 ltr tank the new one can easily do 800km in one fill.

The great thing about diesels is that the fuel average is not very sensitive to A/C, city or motorway , speeds etc. For all kind of driving you get almost same average.

As far as market of 2D is concerned its still good. I am planning to sell mine in a few days as I am still getting good offers. In hilly areas like Dir, swat etc and in interior Punjab, there is a lot of demand. No worry about resales.

So i dont thnk that resale is an issue wid diesel!!!

for 99s diesel 6 - 7 lacks is very normal. Many 2000s are offered above seven.

i just got back from lahore motorway on my 2005 model 2D

gave me 16.35 km/ltr (817km in full tank). i had used AC for about 1 hour. In city (travelling between pindi islamabad everyday) it gives me 15 km/ltr (about 750km in full tank)

and its true, very little affect of AC on fuel average.

so the corolla ad might be very desi...but the claim of doing 800km on motorway is quite true

i just wish 2D was available in automatic transmission

If writing in Urdu makes it desi, then we should all be proud of that. I wish I could have done my all education in Urdu. Living many years in China and Korea, I never saw an ad in English even for a BMW or anything most expensive and grand. I have never seen any ad in other language in USA. Now ads are appearing in Spanish in LA area and people are very sensitive about them. Spanish is becomng a major language in USA.

Please be Proud of your language and origin. If other people discriminate us, atleast we should not do it to ourselves.

i dunnno abt diesels,, but i changed my air filter, and had an oil change just before i left for lahore. My speed was between 100-110 on motorway. Car had 5 passengers and boot full of luggage. Surprising i got an average of 16.9 km/L. Any my cars tank is 50 litres. that means 840 kms in one tank. So i would say a diesel corolla properly tuned ,, running in top condition could do 800 km in a 50L tank

Diesel Engines are always fuel efficient....no 2nd thought on this...

Now Corolla....2.0D with a 2C Engine.....hmmm....thats where the problem is. Also, I am not sure which Diesel fuel grade is availale in Pakistan..fuel quality matters a lot.

I drive a 2005 BMW CD (Coupe Diesel) with a 2.0 Liter Turbo Charged common rail drive Diesel Engine...it is simply a fablous Engine in terms of fuel consumption. My car's tank fuel capacity is 60 liters and on a typical motorway journey, I get 750 MILES easily in one full tank..... which means 1200 Km in 60 Liters! A whopping average of 20Km/L...obviously, fuel in UK is of good quality as well...moreover, BP and Shell do sell a premium grade here with higher RON. The point I am trying to make is that I do not understand why Toyota in Pakistan is not using Turbocharged D-4D Engines in Corolla (which is common rail technology of Toyota...avaiilable in every Diesel varriant in the European Market) Here in UK Toyota Avensis comes with 2.0L and 2.2L turbocharged D-4D Engine. These engines give phenomnol torque approx 400 - 500 Nm....with 0-60 (mile) in approx 8.5 sec. Now some people in Pakistan may argue that D-4D Engine will require extra care in Pakistan...this is not right. Its just a modern technology Diesel Engine...just like Petrol varriants recently introduced in Pakistan (Honda's iVETC or Toyota's VVTi)...so i just can not understand why not a D-4D in 2.0D Corolla...dosent make sense to me!

Still i love Diesel Corolla as still its better thn current Xli or Gli in Power Grip due to Heavyness of Engine but only thing which make me mad is frequent Oil change rest i prefer 2.OD over Xli

Well diesel engines are stronger than petrol engines NO DOUBT
Diesel engines have a much better life than a petrol engine NO DOUBT
Diesel engines have a better MPG or KPL than a petrol engine NO DOUBT

BUT I WILL NOT BUY COROLLA 2.0 D EVEN IF IT HAS ALL ABOVE FACTORS NO DOUBT

Toyota needs to introduce the engine in the Uk model 2.0D which is just like an vw audi 2.0 Tdi in terms of Mpg and power

I heard that there are now diesel suplhur cleaning plants due to which very soon we will be blessed with sulphur free diesel and once that happens a Turbo diesel will definately take the business

My 1993 Mitubishi Galant MAGNUM ENGINE 2.OL Intercooler Turbo Gives Me 700 kilometers with A/C Continously On in a tank.. I Know You Wont Believe This.. Well This All Depends On You That How You Keep Your Car... =)
