Anyone who is in the market for Oshan X7 used/new. here's my experience with a 2023 FutureSense 13950 Kms done
Good:
-Powerful engine, 185hp and 300torque is ample and while driving you will feel that you rule the road as this engine outperforms any car on the market interms of refinement and power delivery. It also gets 10-11 kmpl city in normal drive and on highway it easily can do over 14kmpl.
-I am 6foot4 and I cannot fit in most cars. Oshan 5 seater has immense amount of leg room, I can sit comfortably in the front seat and the rear seat with ample of head&knee space.
-Looks are also very attractive, people notice this car and they mostly say 'is this some new haval/this car is very beautiful' (No joke! 🤣)
-It also has Adaptive Cruise which is simpy amazing. It works flawlessly and will never make you feel uncomfortable as it always keeps a safe distance from the lead car.
-People complain about headlights, I think they are absolutely fine, they are just as bright as grande, civic, Sonata and sportage LEDs, although due to low position and awkward beam pattern the high beams are not as good. Tucson has the best headlights tbh.
-It has Heated and Ventilated seats which are my most favorite especially in scorching heat, the seats have blowers which can cool you (provided that the cabin is cool as it takes air from cabin and sends it through the seats. I also love the 360 cameras, they help immensely in tight spaces (this car is huge! especially in cities you will most likely notice it's size) The Center screen is 'okay'. It has gimmicky features like vehicle diagnostic and you can change some features of the car too. The Bluetooth is probably the best out there in the market, it connects your phone as soon as the car unlocks. Which by the way, the car unlocks when you walks towards it and locks automatically when you move away. The handbrake is also very smart, it will auto disengage when gear is moved in D and engaged when gear is moved to P. Small things like these make your life easier and I couldn't be more happy.
-It also has inbuilt DVR which can record unwanted incidents. I had one accident where a rickshaw side swiped me and the car had it recorded
. This incident brings me to the negatives.
Bad:
-Paint quality is questionable, the accident happened at low speed and yet my door's paint chipped off to expose bare metal. Changan uses thin paint and the clear coat is also very thin which means swirl marks are inevitable. My car is finished in Metallic Orion Blue and it looked gorgeous when new, but now it has gone dull thanks to improper washing techniques. I believe most new cars have terrible paint quality, they don't make cars like they used to before.
-The engine is good, the 7 speed DCT is opposite, it is slow, janky and confused. At slow speeds you will notice that sometimes the gear will change too frequently and the car will loose pace momentarily. Also because its Front wheel drive, the wheels spin and spin and spin when car is pushed.
-Suspension is very soft. It makes small bumps more noticable. The suspension is definitely bias for smooth highways as it performs the best in that environment. (Haval H6 has the same issue and I am surprised no one talks about this flaw with both of these cars) I shifted from Civic X and hence the suspension was a shocker for me. Although surprising there is 0 body roll, the handling is sporty.
-Fit and finish is not the best. My car has done 13,000 kms and i can hear rattles and squishy noises from dash, center console and doors when driving on bad roads.
-Center screen is not that responsive, it still has no Apple CarPlay nor Android Auto even in the facelift. The inbuilt screen mirroring feature is terrible. Cameras are also not as good in prefacelift, newer oshan has perfect cameras.
-I do like the older interior color, i am not at all a fan of this new camel/ tan interior colour. however white interior is a pain to keep clean. Seats are stained very easily.
-Changan has not improved anything quality wise in new oshan, paint still sucks, interior fit and finish is still questionable, Gearbox is also equally bad. people have mixed opinions about dealer services and assistance. My experience with Changan islamabad has been okay. Although I have had sometimes where the people at dealership try to hush me off whenever i had any complaint about the car.
This was my honest review. For 92 lakhs it is without a doubt truly value for money. If my budget was 1 crore I would buy 2.0 Haval H6 but it made more sense to buy a car that is cheaper and has just as many features and has double the road presence
. Chery was never an option, I would never buy a car which has 0 dealership presence and resale. There is a guy here on YouTube promoting Chery but he is being paid by the company. The car is not bad but the company's behavior towards customers is unremarkable.
p.s: sorry for the long read.
