Best Petrol Engine 4x4

the best engine overall would be a 2GR-FE on CNG. no other toyota SUV engine would be as powerful or as economic on Gas. this engine has the perfect balance.

You get 50 hp more in a 1UZ plus its half the price.

1UZFE sounds very fast but I personally did the swap and didnt like it that much. Its also too old and was discontinued in late 90s so the parts is a big issue unless ur in Dubai. And remember it did not came in any SUV. Its a LS400/Crown Majesta engine.

The best option for me is the 2UZFE engine. It did around 6 km/l on Cygnus with contionus full throttle. And I think in lighter car it will perform even better.

I was under the impression parts for the 1UZ are available in the market? :S

The 2UZ can only fit in large SUV's and does pack a punch so does the price.
A 1UZ can fit into a Mid Size SUV and is inexpensive at the moment.
But i suppose there is a parts issue...

The 2UZ came in Prado aswell and even in Hilux Surf. If you compare both the engines you will see that the size of the engines are almost same. The 2UZ is actually overbored 1UZ with less stronger internals but overall the engine weighs more as it has iron blocks instead of aluminum.

Interesting. I have seen both engines, separately though. 2UZ looks much bigger than the 1UZ.

The rates i got from BG were 1UZ: 85k and 2UZ: 250K

1 UZ-FE is a mind boggling engine. Can propel any 4x4 to such heights that you cannot imagine. Does not take up more space than a 1KZ in length but one needs a engine bay wide enough to get that in.

75000 to 100000 is the going price at BJ. Runs good on CNG too. Custom Genset guys love it.

Well it does take more space than the 1KZ in length aswell. If you swap it in a 70 series for example, that originally had the KZ, there will be no space left for the viscous fan, instead you will need to fit thin electric fans to the radiator.

now 285hp from a 3.5L engine is VERY good in an SUV, mate that with CNG (with a loss of 15%) and you still have ample poke with somewhat reasonable consumption.

however i think this entire excersize is pointless as we'd have to factor in the cost of an engine, then the CNG kit etc,.. the whole idea is not cost effective unless you are planning on doing some mega-miles.

They were just supposed to get people from A to B where they weren't able to on a normal car. Since the Petrol/Diesel Price Phobia and CNG as the savior of it everybody want's to plug everything to gas. No wonder wapda is crying. Stating my point i completely agree that it is a pointless exercise, the only way it makes sense is you want performance in your 4x4.

I for one want a 1UZ not because its lighter on the pocket, it will make my 4x4 go faster and easier on the road. Technically if you do the math in some situations Gasoline is cheaper run than CNG.

i agree 100%,... and i also think that gasoline is cheaper to run in some cases. my surf has done about 20-25k in my hands and had i bought and fit a CNG kit i still don't think i'd have gotten my money back yet,.. and i would have lost ALOT of the practicality (Needed for hauliing petromin cases etc.)

i want a 2UZ,.. because it makes a little more noise with straight pipes out the top of bonnet

Nope, No electric fans. They came with Viscous fan and in some cars Hydraulic fans were used.

dono bout u ppl but i've personally done 3 projects on 1UZ one running on CNG which is my own 83 Isuzu Trooper .. One on petrol a CJ7 in ISB and 3ed is in the making a Wrangler will be done in a couple of days.

So far no complaints what so ever .. the CJ7 and my Trooper have been running on 1UZ for like over 1.5 Years now all well kicking *** .. im in lahore so anyone who wants to c the trooper buzz me.

Late 2nd Gen 1UZ's are 280 HP which got WARD award .. look for the WARD top cover on them .. 3ed gen's are 300hp

All things considered, the most balanced petrol engine 4x4 in Pakistan these days is probably the 3400cc Surf in the 1997-2001 shape. I can't believe I am saying this...

The 1UZ seems to be the new fad in town when it comes to 4x4 conversions. Most number of transplants have probably been on Hilux Surfs with the R151 transmissions and there are good resources available online though getting the electronics spot on is no walk in the park....

The 3000cc 1JZ-GE is also a decent choice for most small wheelbase 4x4s though heavier vehicles like the FJ40s should probably go with the 3400cc 5VZ-FE....

If however one is to close the myopic toyota vision for a sec, Mitsus would always insert some stylish sanity into the competition where Wranglers and Cherokees still can't be written off. I do believe that in the end however that Land Rover would take the cake on most counts despite the desi Defenders driving like flashy version of Citi Sadar Road

firstly 1uz isnt a new trend its pretty old .. u should check online ppl have been doing 1uz swaps in all sorts of different things like old ra22 ra28 celicas, hiluxs, surfs, supras, silvias and what not.. this engine has alot of potential .. u can easily hit upto 500hps on the stock engine that is somthing to think about if you are an enthusiast coz its not every day u get a new engine for your car / jeep ..

getting the wiring spot on isnt hard as well as long as u have the wiring diagram and a good electrician who understands wiring diagrams if anyones stuck buzz me ill be happy to point them out to a good reasonable electrician .. whats the point of a 5vz if they both will be around the same price tag .. there is no replacement for displacment .. plus its going in a jeep n i think torque counts alot in jeeps .. 5vz has no where near the amount of torque as a 1uz plus the 5vz is almost a 100hp less then the 1uz .. and the 1jzge is 2500cc 2jzge is 3000cc

best engine for SJ410 is 1.3 TOYOTA ENGINE (EE90 or INDUS COROLLA engine)

BALENO 1.3L engine is also very good

note: FOR RELIABILTY N COST EFFECTIVENESS USE CARBURATOR TYPE ENGINES ONLY
