Summer has always been really hot in Pakistan, particularly in the low-lying and plain areas in Pakistan. And Performing duties as a traffic warden can be challenging in such sweltering summers.
Traffic wardens get good news amid performing their duties in the scorching sunlight. Doing a good deed, the Inspector General of Punjab Police has allowed the traffic wardens to wear polo T-shirts as summer uniforms.

Previously in 2021, complaints were received through Prime Minister’s Performance Delivery Unit (PMDU) lodged by anonymous traffic wardens that performing in high temperatures is tough. Whereas operational police had been allowed to wear T-shirts, traffic wardens were not facilitated.
The then DIG proposed a T-shirt of blue-grey color, with badge of Pakistan Flag embroidered and Punjab Police logo affixed on the left sleeve.
Here are a few ways in which traffic wardens can cope with the heat and perform their duties effectively:
Dress appropriately: Traffic wardens should wear lightweight and breathable clothing, such as cotton or moisture-wicking fabrics, to keep them cool and comfortable in hot weather. They should also wear a hat and sunglasses to protect themselves from the sun.
Stay hydrated: It is crucial for traffic wardens to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. They should also avoid drinks with caffeine or alcohol, which can dehydrate the body.
Take breaks in the shade: Traffic wardens should take frequent breaks in the shade or in air-conditioned areas to cool down and avoid heat exhaustion.
Use sunscreen: Traffic wardens should apply sunscreen with a high SPF to protect themselves from the harmful effects of the sun.
Use cooling products: Traffic wardens can use cooling products such as neck towels, cooling vests, or fans to keep themselves cool.
