Toyota Unveils TRD Powered 2024 Tundra
Toyota is turning heads at the 2023 SEMA Show with its latest offering—the 2024 Tundra equipped with the much-anticipated TRD Performance Package. This optional $3,400 upgrade promises not just a sleek appearance but a substantial power boost, elevating your driving experience.
What’s in the TRD Package?
For those ready to invest in this performance enhancement, the TRD Package brings exclusive TRD badging, a stylish exhaust tip, and a whopping 32 extra horsepower. The mechanical prowess behind this upgrade lies in advanced dual intakes and a new exhaust system, optimizing airflow for a remarkable power surge. A tweaked engine tune complements these enhancements, ensuring that every drive is a sporty and powerful adventure.
Unleashing the Power
With the TRD Package, the standard twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter i-Force engine roars to life with 421 horsepower. Although torque stays a powerful 649 Nm, the updated configuration makes sure that peak twist reaches 400 RPM sooner, providing a thrilling performance. Opt for the i-Force Max engine, and you’ll be in the driver’s seat of a Tundra boasting an impressive 469 horsepower, surpassing many trucks in the US market.
2024 Tundra Backed by Warranty
This isn’t a dealer-installed modification. Toyota offers the TRD Performance Package straight from the factory, complete with a full standard vehicle warranty. Jakin Wilson is the senior engineering manager for Toyota Motor North America. He expressed the brand’s commitment to building on the excitement of the new Tundra platform. Toyota plans on doing that by leveraging the twin-turbo engine for a truly remarkable performance package.
As a bonus at SEMA, Toyota showcased the X-Runner Concept, sharing the same 421-hp engine as the TRD-enhanced Tundra. While not currently available for purchase, the X-Runner Concept is a glimpse into a potential street truck revival. Toyota is gauging interest, so if enthusiasts make enough noise, we might see the X-Runner hitting dealerships in the coming years.
