Sony Honda Mobility’s EV with a Built-in PlayStation 5
Sony and Honda join hands to revolutionize the idea of in-car entertainment. The two giants have rolled out a prototype, Afeela, of their brand-new vision that is set to compete with Tesla. We have already covered the reveal of Afeela in detail, but today we want to talk about one of its remarkable features.
At CES 2023, Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) revealed that Afeela, their upcoming EV, would have a built-in PlayStation 5 in it for entertainment purposes. The idea is surprisingly not new, as Tesla has already announced something similar. Still, the concept of having your own PS5 within your EV sounds insane. It shows how the concept of entertainment within vehicles is being reimagined and opens possibilities for integrating the metaverse into different products.
Yasuhide Mizuno, chair of the joint venture, said that they aim to create “a vehicle that will cater to the entertainment and network they would like to offer”.not only is such integration possible. Still, it will also be advancing more in the future! Only the car’s concept was revealed at CES 2023, and the actual vehicle will roll out in 2025.

According to reports, Afeela’s electric car will compete with the likes of premium cars like Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Audi, and BMW in terms of price, performance, and tech. It further informed that Sony would work on the car’s sensors, UI, and screens, whilst Honda would handle the mechanical development.
Sony Honda Mobility CEO Yashuhide Mizuno informed the show:
“Afeela represents our concept of an interactive relationship where people feel the sensation of interactive mobility and where mobility can detect and understand people and society by utilizing sensing and AI technologies.”
