Sindh Information and Transport minister Sharjeel Inam Memon made a revelation that the provincial government carries a plan to launch a bullet train between Sukkur and Karachi.
The provincial minister revealed this while presiding over the meeting pertaining to Yellow BRT project in Karachi. Several officials from the World Bank delegation and transport ministry attended this meeting.
Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon said that the provincial government seeks World Bank’s assistance to launch and accomplish Karachi to Sukkur Bullet train project. He added that Sindh’s government is leaving no stone unturned to improve the transport system in the city.
Test Drive of First Electric Bus Started in Karachi
Ealier this week, Sindh government held the first test drive of first electric bus in Karachi. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Memon shared the news, saying: “Announcement: Transport department government of Sindh is going to start New Bus service in Karachi.” He further said these are Pakistan’s first electrical vehicles which are completely environment friendly. From tomorrow we are going to start the test drive in the city.”
Updating about the event, Senator Saeed Ghani shared the photos today on his Twitter and wrote: “Test drive of First Electric Bus started in Karachi.”
Currently, there are no updates regarding the routes of this bus. However, the provincial officials have told media that transportation department will finalize the routes once trial runs are completed. The foundation of this mega project was laid last year by then Sindh Transport Minister Syed Owais Shah.
Electric Buses in Islamabad
Last month, we reported that Capital Development Authority was geared up to launch electric public transport buses in Islamabad. As per CDA officials, electric buses would operate on six different public transport routes. The department will also provide space for charging stations. CDA will construct three base stations for these electric buses.
