Sad News – Swvl Halts Daily Rides in Pakistan

0 6,389

And a sad news for daily commuters in major cities of Pakistan, Swvl has suspended its daily services, effecting June 3, 2022. In light of the global economic downturn, the company said, “we are pausing Swvl Daily Rides in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, and Faisalabad.”

And it is indeed a bad news for the people who commute on this private ride service. The company was running vans and coasters for within-city travel. A lot of people, including students and office-goers, were using it for a comfortable daily commute.

The company also stated that it started its journey in Pakistan in 2019. “We believe that every Pakistani should have the right to commute safely every day,” the statement read.

Until we are back, Swvl concluded its statement. So, there is a hope for the masses.

Swvl Services in Pakistan

Swvl was operating with three services in Pakistan, which are:

  • Daily
  • Swvl Travel for City-to-City Rides
  • Swvl Business for B2B rides

It seems the other two services will keep operating in the country for the time being. “We want to thank all of you for trusting us,” the company said to its customers.

The shutdown or pause of such services is not good for the masses and the economy. The world is phasing through a tough economic situation as several financial experts are predicting another global recession. We do hope that the situation gets better in the near future and such services resume for the people.
