Last year in July, the provincial government kicked off the “Chief Minister’s Youth Initiative E-bike program,” making electric bikes more accessible to students. Under this initiative, e-bikes were provided to deserving students by covering half the down payment (Rs. 20,000 of a Rs. 40,000 cost). This eco-friendly move also saw over 8,000 female students getting two-wheeled thumbs up – they’ll all receive e-bikes!

After announcing a ‘bike scheme’ for students, the Punjab government took a step further and came up with a similar plan for teachers, too, allowing them to travel more easily and save money. The provincial government annoced to give electric bikes to 15,000 teachers across the province.

Charging Stations For Women

To make this e-service easily accessible to women, the provincial government came up with another initiative to install e-bike charging stations.

This program outlined a plan to place charging facilities in collaboration with the Bank of Punjab (BoP). Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore, Rafia Haider, endorsed the design and site selection, with a focus on public areas such as Liberty Parking Plaza and women universities and colleges to make the process convenient for them.

Get ready for cleaner air, Punjab! The government is transitioning to electric vehicles. The launch event itself saw the introduction of the Vehicle Inspection Regime for Private Vehicle Project and awarding the first license for manufacturing e-loader rickshaws to Nawawa Mobilizers Company.
