Peugeot 2008 – An Expert Review

Today we’re back with the expert review of the Peugeot 2008. Introduced by Lucky Motor Corporations, Peugeot 2008 was launched in Pakistan in January 2022 in 2 variants, Active and the high spec Allure variant. Today we will review the Allure variant of this European crossover.

Powertrain

The Peugeot 2008 has a three-cylinder, 1200cc turbocharged engine producing 130hp and 230Nm of torque, offered in front-wheel drive. This engine is configured with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine is small in configuration but provides ample power enabling the car to achieve 0 to 100 km/h in under 10 seconds.

Exterior

The front look of this car can be described as bulky and aggressive. The dominant visual feature is the grill with chrome lining, similar to MG. The DRL lights on the front end resemble lion claws giving it a fierce look. The exterior design also includes black and silver lining all around the car, and the headlights have multi-point LED lenses with high illumination. However, the front does not have fog lights.

The exterior has several piano black design accents on components like the roof panel and side mirrors. The car’s side profile includes two conical designs giving it a futuristic look. The 17-inch tyres are in contrast of silver and piano black. The rear end consists of the Peugeot emblem and LED lights with two rectangular exhausts beneath the bumper. The car also has a high-mounted brake lamp and overall is very modern looking.

Interior

The seats are faux leather with comfortable cushioning. Front seats are manually adjustable with decent legroom, but headroom might be an issue for taller people upon entry. Rear seats have considerable headroom and legroom but have no central armrest or central headrest.

However, there is no USB dock or AC vents for the rear seats. The car has non-conventional, hexagonal, and telescopic steering as well as cockpit-style switches on the center control. The dashboard has a chrome finish, and overall the car has decent soundproofing.

The interior also has an armrest with decent storage and cupholders built into the car doors. The 10-inch meter has 3D floating icons of statistics, including fuel range, engine temperature, and car mileage. Overall, this car is perfect for 4 adults on long journeys and is the most spacious out of all B segment SUVs with a futuristic interior.

Salient Features

The Peugeot 2008 operates with a smart key. It has salient features like 6 speakers with exceptional audio quality, cruise control, lane assist, 6 airbags, blind spot monitor, auto headlamps, a 7-inch infotainment system, climate control, panoramic sunroof with a manual cover, and parking sensors on all sides.

Trunk Space

This car has the biggest boot space out of all B+ segment SUVs, with around 400+ liters of trunk capacity. It comes with dual separators, a spare wheel, car toolbox, and a warning triangle. All in all, the Peugeot 2008 has a decent loading capacity.

Drive

The drive of this car is smooth and comfortable with its soft power steering and timely turbo response. Albeit, since it is a 3-cylinder car, there is a slight vibration on harsh turns. Overall, the power delivery is very impressive, and the car is fun to drive.

Suspension And Handling

This car has an excellent grip even on turns and has no signs of stiffness on bumps. There is ample ground clearance, and overall, it has smooth suspension and effortless acceleration.

Fuel Average

As per company claims, the car is supposed to give a 13km/l fuel average within the city and 16km/h on highways. However, as per our testing, the Peugeot 2008 gives an average of up to 12 to 12.5 km/l within the city if driven lightly and up to 15 km/l on highways.
