Pakistani team makes the country proud at Shell Eco-Marathon 2019

Pakistan has achieved yet, another milestone. In the  Shell Eco-Marathon- 19,  which was held in Malaysia. Pakistan was ranked 3rd among the leading countries. While, out of 100+ teams, a team from the NUST, Pakistan secured the 11th position in car’s mileage.

Shell Eco-marathon is a global program for maths, science, technology and engineering students which aims to design and build energy efficient cars. And after this let them compete with the participants from the different countries. This program is not only providing a potential platform for new emerging talent all over the world but is also inspiring thousands of students around the globe to work together with their teams to innovate and give life to their ideas of energy-efficient equipment to test, using their innovative skills, critical thinking, and latest technology.

The team from NUST, in the Urban Concept mileage challenge category, has left behind the competitive countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Nepal, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Egypt, Bangladesh, India, and many other South Asian Countries.

This team., Toyota NUST Automotive Group (NUSTAG) has indeed cleared the technical inspection and completed their first valid run with a mileage of 72 km/liter which has made them the best team from the sub-continent.

This year, from South Asia, around 55 Urban Concept teams took their intriguing vehicles at this event. These teams compete which each other in the sub-categories like hydrogen fuel cell, electric power, and spanning internal combustion engine.

The Global General Manager, Norman Koch of the Shell Eco-Marathon further said that,

“ Among all the previous years, The UrbanConcept cars this years seem largely more reliable. We already have quite a number of valid runs than ever before.  Overall, they seem more reliable and I think being on a professional race track with ample space, big turns for overtaking helped the students to achieve better results”.

What made this Shell Eco-Marathon more interesting was the introduction of “First Night Race” in the history of this event globally, which not only presented as a potential challenge for the participants in the events but also opened up new room for adventure and innovations in this regard.
