The head of Maserati brand Tim Kuniskis told during a presentation in Italy that Ferrari will be lending its help in many current future projects of Maserati and that all the future powertrains for Maserati vehicles – including the plug-in hybrids, the hybrids, and all-electrics – will be provided by Ferrari. Maserati has also revealed that Maserati Blue will be the flag for the company’s full-electric vehicles.

Maserati Blue is set to offer full-electric versions of four flagship cars of the company: the Alfieri, Alfieri Cabrio, Levante, and Quattroporte. All four of these cars, under the banner of Maserati Blue, will be featuring a three-motor setup controlled by an eAWD system, 800V batteries, torque vectoring, long driving ranges and quick charging systems. Also, all of these models will be built upon a lightweight aluminum-based modular platform.

The Alfieri may sound similar because a 2+2 sports coupe concept of the Alfieri was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in 2014. At the time, the car was expected to be offered with V6 and V8 turbocharged engines and rear wheel drive. But since the concept has been delayed for so long, it is a smart move by Maserati to up the specifications and options according to the need of the current time.

Tim Kuniskis told in the presentation that the plan for a new version required the company to build a new modular aluminum space frame to keep the weight within the lower limits. According to Kuniskis, the all-electric car will weight 385 pounds more than the combustion-engine version and will be available in AWD which comes with active torque vectoring. The expected top speed of the car is over 186 miles per hour and the car will go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 2 seconds.

The company has not yet decided (or revealed) the name of the midsize SUV it is planning to launch, but it has been revealed that the SUV will be offered in hybrid and PHEV configurations.
