Hyundai Sonata Vs. Toyota Camry Hybrid – A Comparison

And we are here with another car comparison for you. In this article, we will compare the recently-unveiled Hyundai Sonata with the veteran car, Toyota Camry Hybrid. This piece will compare both cars’ specs, features and safety options in details so that you can make a proper purchase decision. So, without any further delay, here is the comparison.

It is pertinent to mention that both Sonata and Camry have two variants, each, i.e., 2000cc and 2500cc of Sonata, and Low Grade/High Grade for Camry Hybrid. Hence we are going to compare all four vehicles.

Dimensions:

The Sonata is 4900mm Long, 1860mm Wide and 1445mm High. In comparison, the dimensions of the Camry are 4885mm Long, 1840mm Wide and 1455mm High, making Sonata longer and wider as compared to Camry, while Toyota’s car is Higher than its competitor.

Engine and Transmission: 

Sonata comes in two engine options, 2000cc and 2500cc, while Toyota Camry offers one engine option, which is 2500cc. The 2000cc engine of Sonata produces 152hp and 180Nm of torque, while 2500cc generates 180hp and 232Nm torque. In comparison, Camry’s 2500cc produces 176hp and 221Nm of torque.  Camry also comes with an electric motor, which produces 118hp and 202Nm of torque. Hence, it is easy to say that Toyota’s car is way ahead in generating horsepower and torque against its competitor.

Hyundai offers a 6-Speed Automatic in its cars, while Camry has CVT Transmission, giving an edge to the latter. If we talk about Drive Modes, the Sonata comes with Smart/Sport/Eco/Custom and Comfort, while Camry has Eco/Sport/Normal modes.

Exterior: 

The first noticeable feature is the Panoramic Sunroof, which is available in both Sonatas and High-Grade Camry, while it is not being offered in Low-Grade Camry. Both Sonatas have Tetra LED Projection Headlamps, Gradient Hidden Light Technology DRLs, and Horizontal LED Rear Combination Tail Lights. In comparison, both variants of Camry has LED headlights, DRLs, and Rear Lights.

Sonatas and Camry have Rear Fog Lamps, but only Hyundai’s car offers Rain Sensing Wipers. Coming to Wheels size, you will find that both Sonatas and Camry High-Grade have 18-inch Alloy Wheels, while Low-Grade has 17-inch Alloy Rims. The Spare tyre in Sonata is also Alloy.

Interior: 

All four cars have Leather Seats and 10-Way Power Driver Seat, 4-Way Power Passenger Seat, and Lumbar Support for Driver Seat. Meanwhile, only 2500cc Sonata comes with Power Rear Sunshade. The Cluster Display in Sonata cars is 12.3-inch High-Resolution TFT LCD, while Camry has Analogue with a 7-inch MID Display. And all four vehicles have an 8-inch Infotainment Display.

Coming to AC, all these cars offer Dual Zone Climate Control with Rear AC vents. The Sonata cars have an additional feature of Wireless Charger, which is not provided in Toyota Camry. Lastly, only 2500cc Sonata offers a Head-Up Display (HUD).

Safety: 

Hyundai Sonata 2500cc and both Camry variants offer 6 Airbags, while 2000cc Sonata comes with only 2 Airbags. All four vehicles offer Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), Traction Control System (TCS), Parking Sensors, Cruise Control and Rear Camera; however,  Sonata comes with Dynamic Guidelines in the rear camera. 

Price: 

Now, the most important comparison. The current price of Toyota Camry High Grade is Rs18,630,000, while Low Grade has been discontinued in Pakistan. On the other hand, the price of Sonata 2000cc is Rs 6,399,000 and 2500cc is Rs7,099,000.
