“Hyundai Sonata Is Most Beautiful looking Locally Assembled Car” – Irfan Junejo
Today we’re back with the owner’s review of Irfan Junejo’s Hyundai Sonata. The Sonata is a D-segment sedan that Hyundai Nishat launched in 2021 in 2 variants. This particular car is the top-of-the-line variant which comes with a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine, producing 180 hp and 232 nm of torque. This engine is configured with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Sonata competes with the Toyota Camry and Accord and is the only D-segment sedan being assembled in Pakistan.
Purchase Decision
The owner was previously driving the Toyota Hilux Revo, which according to him, was not a good experience as it had a lack of comfort, plus the fuel average was also bad, and its size made it difficult for intercity maneuverability. The Sonata, on the other hand, was very attractive and, per the owner, the most beautiful looking locally assembled car. Moreover, his travel was frequently on main roads, so he decided to switch to a sedan with a better driving experience.
Salient Features
The Sonata comes with many quirks and features. The owner really likes the availability of Apple CarPlay, remote start, and welcoming headlights when the car unlocks. More features include a fully digital instrument cluster, heads-up display, which is very impressive in this price range, electric seats, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, etc. “As compared to the Civic RS, which falls in the same price bracket, the Sonata has a major upper hand with these added features”, added the owner.
Fuel Average
The fuel average of the 2.5 Sonata is pretty decent, according to the owner. He gets around 9 to 10 km/l within the city, and it goes up by a kilometer or two if driven on low RPMs. The owner has not tested it on the highway, but as per our survey, the Sonata can achieve 14 to 15 km/l on a long stretch if driven at constant speeds.
Comfort
The owner is delighted with the car’s comfort, especially after owning a Revo. The seats are comfortable, with ample headroom and legroom for passengers. The suspension is a bit stiff compared to the new Civic he recently drove, but overall comfort is plausible.
Dislikes
Although the owner is very satisfied with the car and its quality, one thing that he dislikes is the doors. In his opinion, the doors lack some sort of suction and don’t feel hefty; the feel upon closing them is far from its premium characteristics.
Maintenance and Spare Parts
The owner has got the oil changed once after an interval of 10,000 kilometers, costing him around 20,000 rupees from the authorized dealership. The parts are costly, with one headlight costing close to 3 lakh rupees, making the Sonata not a cheap car to maintain.
