Honda Civic 2022 Scores 5/5 in Euro NCAP Crash Test
The new Honda Civic 2022 has received a 5-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash test. According to the detailed report, the car gets good ratings in Child Occupant Protection (COP), Safety Assist (SA) category, Adult Occupation Protection (AO), and pedestrian protection.
The report stated that Honda Civic 2022 has shown improvements in different segments; however, these improvements are in European Civic. The upgrades include 11 airbags, a high-speed processor for autonomous driving features, a new sonar sensor, better structural bracing, and upgraded Honda Sensing (ADAS).
The other major improvements in the new Civic are rear wheel arch frames, a full-width brace that supports the floor and resin bulkhead, European i-Size ISOFIX mounting points, a pop-up hood with an embossed membrane structure, and additional front door stiffeners.
Ratings for Honda Civic 2022
The report mentions that the car’s safety score in different aspects is as follows:
- Adult Occupation 89%
- Child Occupation 87%
- Vulnerable Road Users 82%
- Safety Assist 83%
The report’s comments for the adult occupation result stated: “The passenger compartment of the Civic remained stable in the frontal offset test. The protection of the driver’s chest was rated weak based on dummy readings of compression. However, dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger.”
Meanwhile, the result for Child Occupant mentions that “the Civic provided good protection for all critical body regions of both the 6 and 10-year dummies in the frontal offset and side barrier tests, and scored maximum points in this part of the assessment.”
Discussing about the vulnerable road users and car’s reaction, the report concluded: “The Civic has an ‘active’ bonnet. Sensors in the bumper detect when a pedestrian has been struck, and actuators lift the bonnet to create more space for the hard structures in the engine compartment. Honda showed that the system worked robustly for different pedestrian statures.”
And report’s comments about Safety Assist are: “The Civic’s autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system performed well in tests of its reaction to other vehicles. A seatbelt reminder system is fitted as standard to the front and rear seats, but the car does not have a system to detect driver fatigue.”

Honda Civic 2022 in Pakistan
As mentioned earlier, this report is for Euro-specific Civic, and Pakistan’s Honda Civic 2022 may not pass the crash test with a 5/5 rating. It is pertinent to mention that Honda Atlas offers only 2 airbags in its sedan, while there are cuts in other specs and features; hence, the Pakistani Civic may not be as safe as the European one.
