Here is what I wrote:
"Sir/Madam,
Greetings
I am writing to you from Islamabad, Pakistan. My wife, Asma Abbasi, was impressed with the Proton X70 Premium. We booked the car on 30th April 2022 – PSO # 4000007-1008-22. At the time we were told that the delivery of the vehicle would be in Nov/Dec 2022. As time passed we found out that Al-Haj Automotive (your partner in Pakistan) was having difficulties in making timely deliveries: our car kept on getting delayed further and further into the future. The booking amount was Rs. 1,150,000 (equivalent to $6126).
My wife needed the car urgently so we decided to purchase a used Proton X70 from the second hand market and cancel our order with Al-Haj. We cancelled our order on October 28th, 2022 and bought a used Proton X70. At this time we were informed that our refund will be given to us in April 2023. We received our check in April 2023 as promised but the date on the check was last week of August 2023. We deposited the check on the 4th of September. It was not honored and our bank returned it back to us.
In my country if a check is declined, it becomes an offence and legal action can be taken. We visited the head office of Al-Haj in Islamabad and spoke to one of Al-Haj representatives citing our intension of legal action. His replay to was to go ahead and go do what we want! He told us to present the check again after 10th October. But He also said that there was a very low chance of getting our money.
Please note that due to the poor economic situation of the currency, the same Rs 1,150,000 is equivalent to USD 3770. So not only has our money halved in value but also we have been denied the interest on this amount to the average value of 15% per year.
This type of actions from your partner, Al-Haj has caused various dealers (three so far; in Sialkot, Lahore and Faisalabad) to resign from being Proton dealers.
I do not expect any reaction from this e-mail but you need to know that at this time You local partner is doing much harm to your good name and the reputation of Proton.
A very upset customer.
M. S. Abbasi"
