i want to share experience that such practices are common not only in outside shops but at 3s dealers too
several years ago in 98-99, i took my newly bought suzuki to macca motors, karachi,
there service manager Mr. T**** (dont know he is still there) was very talkative and knows how to gather & trap you
as i was young & went with my driver, my driver used to stay outside & sit with watchmen as my driver & watchman both were Pathaan lala(so niswaar.....)
while i went inside, he welcomed ,greet,asked about education etc. etc. , i told him purpose , said no problem ,just show your file, as being young & not aware of such things, i opened full file in front of him,(infact true fact & what now i consider as my mistake was that i even donot get read all invoices/paper/contents of file before going as new car but as practice, my brother made similar copy file in which all documents were photocoiped & place in same order, in addition he also write by sequence that on top this is sale invoice, on 2 it is receipt of buying bulb etc.)) there were 2 coupons yellow colour & pink colour in original file
he told show me file, oooh very well mantained, you keep record file well mantained bla bla. & by trick removed those 2 coupons alongwith 1 paper( paper was some checklist that after 1k, these things have to check etc.)
then offered tea , i was highly impressed by him, he told that 1 hour your car will be ready
then they took car to service ,after 1 hour told me that car is ready ,just pay bills & get your car , i just paid, they gave me bill of around 2200 (claiming that service done with oil change +oil filter+ gear oil change + tuning) told to show receipt to watchman & receive your car ,
when i took car, driver asked me that when you want service(car wash) why dont do near home, i told no actually here they do oil change,filter change, tuning etc. He told me i am continously sitting with watchman & monitoring our car, they did nothing but just clean the car from outside/inside(which normally called service) no oil change,filter change
i said no no may be you are mistaken, he told me to open bonnet & check oil filter, when this car was delivered, the dealer put tape on filter with date written on it by marker, fortunately that tape was still present there with marks
i rused to upper floor to manager, he doesnot agree but i insisted to come down stairs to check matter ,when he came, my driver in front of him asked watchman that during our gupshup, was not this car just washed, watchman replied in positive
then manager turned anger,started shouting over poor watchman & driver thay they are liars
i was confused, on one side i was impressed by service of manager, otherside my driver. i remain silent
my driver told that all right if your staff has done oil change+oil filter then show our old filter & can of oil
then manager get liitle nervous but directed towards me you are educated student ...buttering .... no my staff are very active, they throw it ,as it was 3 L can so may be no oil left so what will you do with used can
then my driver told ,check oil filter on which carachi motors put tape at time of delivery, when bonnet opened , it was found then that manager understand no way to escape,
then told me even i dont beleive but as our showroom is new, also you bought car from carachi motors not from us but come here for showing trust SO I WILL CHANGE FILTER ON YOUR REQUEST just to keep you customer, for that i have to pay from my pocket but not want to lose customer like you,again buttering
i told same for checking that tuning done and oil change done but he not agreed on that
anyway we came back after changing filter & he also returned 1 white paper(checklist of items/inspection on 1st service 1k) with all checked by pen like coolant checked,brake fluid checked etc... when i asked that you took some 3 things from me, he told that was not for you son, that was for us to check car when come on 1st inspection
your driver & watchman are uneducated, they were busy in gossips when all things done, beleive me
after reaching home, i showed invoices to my brother & give him file, whne he checked ,he told me that where are the pink ~& yellow, i told it was not for us for them, he checked copied file & showed me photocopy it was written FREE SERVICE COUPON including oil,filter & free inspection + tuning BY PAK SUZUKI AT 1,000 KM on yellow while FREE SERVICE COUPON including oil,filter & free inspection + tuning BY PAK SUZUKI AT 5,000 KM
at that time it was already night,
next morning i went again with driver, that manager was busy with some customers, just meet with me that meeting 1st time, when i asked for yellow & pink coupon which you took yesterday from my file.. & even that with that free service offer, you gave me bill of 2200, infact it is all free by pak suzuki offer & you did this
he bluntly refused that he took any coupon from file & starts roaring , shouting showing attitude to me. then in all this i left because there was no use of standing there
this dishearts me lot that due to my hurriness, i should read file & coupon before showing infront of him
2nd time i again ripped by same macca motors after 4 months when same car was hitted badly at back by bus, at that time i used to live near that macca motors so although i had bad service experience with them but when i called adamjee they told me that give to macca motors, as your accident place & home is near(at that time i used to live near macca motors gulshan-ejamal ) & you car is unable to go much distance ,otherwise you have to tow
so i gave car to them, anyway insuarnce procedure done (that's another long story) they promised to give car within 15 days but macca motors took 3 months in repairing, anyway at day of receiving car, they told me that adamjee surveyor can come any time in morning & noon so better to come 5 P.M before closing but
i went early in 10 A.M & go directly to workshop, i tried that same manager Mr. T**** dont see me, i saw surveyour came around 12 , took all picture, checked all parts & sign some parts list
i think its over, i asked mechanics/denter there, they told that "haaan ho geya survey" but get discharge slip from manager above stairs , when i went above, i saw manager was going down with other staff so i dont think favourable time to disturb now aso i went down again, i saw from far that dnter showed that surveyor signed all parts list, THEN CAN IMAGINE WHAT HAPPENED( he has not seen me) HE INSTRUCTED SOME THING TO STAFF & what staff did, they opened lights ,bumpers ,number plate lights. locks etc. & put another, this put me in doubt but i remain silent, when at 5 car almost ready then i again went to manager, he again start buttering....
when i took car fortunately before receiving , i was wonder that why they change lights again ( on closer look i came to find that it was not genuine) as nothing embose/wriiteen on it
THEN WHOLE MATTER WAS IN FRONT OF ME, JUST BEFORE SURVEING TO INSURANCE THEY PUT ALL GENUINE PARTS & WHEN SURVEYOUR TOOK PICTURE & SIGNED BILL FOR ALL GENUINE PARTS, THEY RIPPED ME BY PUTTING NON GENUINE PARTS
i asked same manager that THESE LIGHTS NOT ORIGINAL, he STARTED SHOUTING AGAIN YOU ARE CHILD NO EXPERIENCE, I HAVE EXPERIENCE OF 5 + YEARS IN THIS FIELD, HOW CAN YOU SAY ITS NOT GENUINE, I tell that there are other baleno here too,check their lights ,it is writen something like KOITO & numbers but on my light no numbers embosed so it will yellow after sometimes, HE SAID NO ACTUALLY IT IS FF, YOUR IS GENUINE FROM COMPANY , in all this another customer also interrupt that this child is saying correct, even that customer said me infront of manager if you have doubt then dont receive your car now & call your insurance company to send surveyor again to check & decide it is genuine /non genuine ,
then in exhausting, manager said you are not satisfy that's why i will change these lights because our motto is to satisfy customer, THEN HE ORDERS FOR CHANGING LIGHT AGAIN( this time they put genuine light) but not agree on changing number plate lights + bumper+ locks etc. insisited they are genuine
i was exhausted too as they have kept car from last 3 months so also had pressure from home to bring car soon,also time was around 19:00 evening , i cannot do more than that , atlast i came back after changing lights
but after that 2 times ripped off by them, i never suggested anyone to go Macca motors, if you want delaer then just 10 minute drive, there is Carachi motors which are much better
