Booked GLS in June and delivered last week.
Color is Graphite Grey Metallic
Absolutely stunning! There are only few in the whole town
And yes, I replaced the tires!
Coming off from 2020 Grande, which I do have, the GLS definitely feels like an upgrade.
It's been a week and I'll come back for a detailed outlook after a couple of months.
Parked side by side, Corolla Grande and Elantra GLS, if you tap on the hood and doors, you can definitely feel which one is more sturdier. And it's the GLS. This wasn't the case with the 1.6 GL variant which had a cheap feeling dashboard and stuff when I tested it out a few months back. If you can afford, I'd recommend go for the top end GLS variant instead.
For now, here are the things I like:
- build quality of the 2.0 GLS
- powerful dry battery (Daewoo)
- quad LED headlamps more brighter than Grande's
- configurable locking features directly from the MID
- dual zone climate control
- reverse camera with dynamic moving guidelines which Grande doesn't have
- wireless charging
- 9-way auto adjustable driver seat -- all seats are perforated by the way
- rear seats AC vents
- awesome stereo sound system with good bass
- horn is loud and fixed in this year's version/variant
- spare tire also comes in the alloy wheel
- new Android infotainment comes with 3GB RAM & 32GB storage i.e. responsive!
- smooth drive and silent cabin (with a caveat, see below)
Things I did not like:
- wireless charger's trickier placement for thick cases or smaller phones like the iPhone mini
- driver side window is auto-down but is manual for closing up (don't know whether they saved a sensor cost or if it's an EU standard of some sort)
- poor selection of tires on Hyundai Nishat's part yielding road noise from the General's hard BG Luxo tires, which I had to replace with Yokohama's AdvanDB v552 with the same profile i.e. 215 55 R16
- cabin noise is minimal but if someone speaks outside the window, you can hear them (this isn't the case in Grande); not sure if it's by design ...
- you have to slam the doors very hard to close them off; not sure if they'd soften up by time though
- perhaps -- a missing front cam; I never really found the front cam very useful in Grande, which by the way is botched with a terrible data cable placement right above the radiator i.e. it heats up after a few weeks and goes slam dunk with flickering view; I have had it replaced 3 times under warranty already but now decided to shrink wrap it with insulation pipe so fingers crossed
